Who else won't even be TRYING d3
Already pre-ordered D3 here.
I am worried over the depth and "fun" of it though. It's sad that gaming and all of popular culture has taken a turn to the infantile console mentality over the past couple of decades. Guess we will find out (those of us who do try it out). It will undoubtedly be popular, but sadly the simple logic of "popular doesn't equal good" has been lost to most people. 10 million babies laughing at a joke they don't understand doesn't make it funny either.. ;p |

"On the contrary I think people generally understand this perfectly well. Have you actually seen people in any great number say they're interested in Diablo 3 because it will be popular? As far as I can see, interest in games tends to be because people think they'll enjoy playing the game, not because they think other people will enjoy playing the game. I think this "laughing at a joke they don't understand" metaphor is pretty arrogant, basically. Why assume people of differing taste are somehow insincere in those tastes? Maybe it's just that there are a considerable number of people who don't like the same things you do. |

" Conjecture. I'm in both betas, and as a long-time Diablo fan, (purchased Diablo a few weeks after release, same as Diablo 2) I will not be buying D3. |

@GusTheCrocodile: that's the problem with this community.
They are a bunch of hispters who think PoE is better (I still have to see why they think that, I'm baffled). In the end, the Diablo community doesn't even know PoE exists, the diablo subreddit has 22k users, PoE only has 800 users. Saying D3 is a shitty game for playing 1% of the content is ridiculous, but one day they'll understand that ^^; If GGG prefer to keep those behaviors, fine, it will just decrease the player base because, seriously, who wants to play with a bunch of whiners who can't enjoy their game without calling out another beloved game? PoE forums ignore list script:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally. | |
I'm in the D3 beta and ?I must say it's very disappointing. It doesn't capture the Diablo atmosphere like the previous two titles. Something about it feels.. very child like, very dumbed down and easy.

I've also access to the D3 beta and I'm not disappointed. I'm surprised of people who say it's too WOWesque and too childish (seriously, have you seen the blacksmith's quest where he has to
Spoiler
kill his own wife because she's turning into a wretched mother
But it's not the same feeling than PoE. Both games will be different, that's all. (Anyway, when I read the first post of this thread, I thought "hipster", yes :)) |

The internet is amazing, i like all this "fast food hate" :>
You want to know how the D3 vs PoE conference was? Watch this short Youtube: Don't lough! *this is just for entertainment and fun. If you dont understand it, google for it.(if you have internet)* English is my third language, there will be bugs.

From a slidly misanthropic view of things i´d say that the utopic version of a human being and the main target group of d3/wow/BF3/COD and such games are quite different.
( Not saying that all of that people are, i played wow for some time and i´ll pirate d3 first and then eventually buy it if it is good ) i have to agree with the guy saying that the taste of many is not equal to the understanding of what is good. It´s like the word "normal". National-socialism, communism ( historic version of it ), american imperialism, patriotism, racism, are things which seem to hit peoples taste but thats not indicating that these things are good. Call me arrogant, like the other guy, ( although i think thats not the right word ) but i dont think that many humans are able to take care of theirselfs, others, the world and it´s inhabitants, nature, animals. why should i measure my opinion of what is good and what is not with the taste of the mass. like history recently showed: if you give people shit for a long time, they accustom to it. Espacially most of you americans, unfortunately forgot what your founding fathers intended what the USA should be. It´s not arrogant to realize that you are a better human being that many others are. it´s arrogant if you think you are perfect and if you dont help others to geht open-minded. Life is learning, all the time. (sry for bad english, not mother language but still learning ) Last edited by Skyllia#2614 on Mar 27, 2012, 3:32:15 AM

" And that might very well be a problem of your way of looking at the situation: You perceive an amalgam of more than thousand people (all of them with brains and their own reasons for liking/disliking something) as one coherent "Community". Second problem is that you decry whose preferences you don't (want to?) understand as "hipsters". Thirdly, you base...erm...something... off the fact that Diablo is more popular. There are reasons why others and I won't purchase Diablo (or are at least thinking about it). There's a good read right here:http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/23123. Tastes are different. Reasons for playing (or even buying a game) are different. To some of us, Diablo III has lost its appeal, whereas PoE is building up to it. I'm one of those people, and I don't get why others try to insult me as "hipster" because of it. For some of us, Diablo III will be all they wished for. And do I declare them brain-dead monkeys for it? No. For others, they'll be playing both (or none) and still be happy. It's two games meant for different audiences. And still, there are people on all sides of the fence who might like/dislike one or both of those games for various reasons. And if someone says "I will buy it because... if you say you won't, you're lying through your teeth" that is neither a good reason to buy a game nor does it much for my disposition if I'm either called a liar or becoming untrue to my principles. Fact is, I won't be buying Diablo III, and I was not too happy about that since I'm a first-hour Diablo fan. But since I know of PoE, I can rest easy in the knowledge that there's a game out there for me. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human. It's highly unlikely I will even be buying D3 mainly because I don't have tons of cash at my disposal and it looks incredibly disappointing.
