Mastermind fight

I like some the new stuff but I'm also missing some of the old stuff. Mainly how much more fun the talents were. Now a days it just feels like here's a small buff to this stat. I want avatar of fire to provide 100% damage conversion of no just my damage but damage I take too. Make vaal pact make leeching instant instead of just double. I want special nodes on the talent trees to be good again :/

You're not being very fair. You just went into a fight blind, with no idea what to expect. You shouldn't be surprised that you didn't know what to do. And that's okay.

Now that you know how the fight works, it will be fairly easy next time. Knowing and not knowing what to do make a huge difference. It's not fair to judge the whole fight based off of seeing it for the first time and not knowing what to do.

That said, I still 1 shot it the first time I saw it, not knowing any of the mechanics. But totem life is easy. Also discovered the way to progress it completely by accident.
Had my first Mastermind (lvl 68 zone) failed fight and was surprised how much damage spikes it had.

3.8k life & -2% chaos resists (if that matters in any way) and played BV (low dps because shitty SSF gear) which is prone to be hit by melee hits all the time so i knew i may eventually die to one shots in boss melee range if i mess up a wind-up telegraped attack.

But what i witnessed whas sadly a bad experience for a league defining boss they introduced so far.
I mean compare this for example with the Omnitect.
A difference like day and night in difficulty.

It has ground effects one shots melee and range attacks, 4 phases with full life refresh and on top if you fail the entire fight you have to redo the whole intelligence stuff to gain a new portal to the Mastermind fight.

What did i missed so you can make this boss encounter an easier fight?

You didnt have a build ready to take on unknown and therefore initially more difficult bosses. What did you expect?

This boss isnt even that hard. The only trouble I encountered was triggering the next phase. Once I figured that out, the fight was rather smooth sailing.
Still died to her, because I havent learned all mechanics involved yet, but thats how it always worked in PoE.
You throw your corpse at bosses until you learn the fight. Once you learned the fight, its a cakewalk and you can take on those bosses with an undergeared build.

But if you go in blind with an unoptimized build, you´ll get your ass handed and thats exactly how it should be.
It's literally 2 mechanics it's fucking funny how some of you died to that because you went in blind xd

Maybe.
But the MM fight is way less forgiving & harder than for example the Omnitect fight or the Vaal Delve boss (~ depth 100).
It basically forces you to off screen this boss so you take less damage and dont interact with the league mechanics at all.

I think i will use good old totems or maybe the new brands with high postitive chaos resists next time.

The fight is fine.. I killed her yeasterday going into it blind. Learn her mechanics then do it. TBH she is a very easy league boss once you know how the fight works..
"Don't Tread on Me"
I always expect to never see a boss during an entire league, so I watched several videos about her.

I still dont understand her mechanics regarding to challenges. What darkflame phase? How to stop her from teleporting? etc.

She does chaos damage, doesnt she? That automatically makes her more difficult for every non CI build, because chaos res is much harder to come by than ele res.

But the investigation process is going on nicely. Maybe I can actually learn her mechanics instead of playing headless grasshopper.
Some people must play more Dark Souls... L2P Git Gud :)

I still haven't fought her, eager to fight and learn, like I just learned how to play incursions and delve.

What makes this game good is that boss fights are not straight facetanks and DPS races like D3, you need to learn phases and dodges for example.

Hope they keep boss fights as it is now.
