Is syndicate grossly overtuned?
" I would disagree as I have earned between 3-4 ex from Safehouse/Syndicate battles. Highlight was a 121% bisco with 48 or 49% qty. These are providing a nice source of extra income. Further, I've pulled in a good number of gilded scarabs and high quality fossils for crafting. Last edited by stlcsl#3569 on Dec 14, 2018, 3:40:09 PM

POE Players: "Game is too easy now. Ascendancy made the game a cake walk. Statsticks break balance. Arc is OP."
Also POE Players: "This game is ridiculous now. The damage is fucking crazy from the syndicate. They should nerf it." Either the game is too easy (I'm winning) or the game is too hard (I keep dying). ezclap Last edited by Prizy#1622 on Dec 14, 2018, 4:35:57 PM

Hey, most of the syndicate content is easily skippable, except for those damn assassinations. I just finished act 10 and haven't made it a habit to tackle any syndicate mechanics since about act 6. My shame is deep but I haven't had to pound on my keyboard because of needless deaths during the last half of my playtime.
Quit complaining and play hard. Last edited by Boneshaka#7860 on Dec 14, 2018, 5:38:47 PM

I like being off-screen one-shotted in red map without any damage mods by those syndicate invaders.
I just have 5k life, 2k mana MoM, 3 endurance charges. I'm playing scion with elementalist ascendancy (to not die from el reflect) and juggernaut ascendancy (to not get stun and have endurance charge) still not enough. I also have chaos resist... Even Izaro and Boss from the maps are not so OP and I think they are challenging enough (until the point you get a 20ex char and you overlevel it). If I'm getting invaded I know that I will die but I want to finish the map, so I try to fight, to dodge, to cast a decoy totem that get one shotted with me in an aoe because of stupid casting time of half a second. You know, you're not going to 1v1 the syndicate because there are 2 or 3 of them invading your bottom. |

I'm one of the refugees from That Other Game (TOG). As much as I enjoyed TOG and its predecessors... the devs dumbed it down to the point that there was very little challenge. Play it long enough, and RNG will allow you to melt all the mobs in your way.
I came to PoE after watching several YouTube videos - namely the ones about how GGG slammed TOG's devs with the "Betrayal" league and the "Immortal" Syndicate. Still not sure if that's actually a slam, but either way, it's hilarious. Long story short, here I am. I rolled ranger as my first-ever char. I was having a good time, but then I realized that if you go tossing skills into the tree willy-nilly, you're basically f***ed. I was doing just "okay" with the ranger. I died a few times, and I wasn't able to successfully stop some of the transports, but I was able to handle about 3/4 of the content tossed at me. I decided to put her aside for a bit and roll a marauder, and while it does feel a little strange playing a giant, ugly man as a 5' tall middle-aged woman, I really enjoy it. There's a strange sense of satisfaction that comes from ground slamming my foes to death. Anyway... Here's my opinion of this, and it's JUST opinion. Please keep in mind that I'm also brand new to this game and my ARPG experience is pretty much limited to TOG. I like it. I like that I can't just run up to a pack of mobs, push two buttons, and melt their faces. I like actually having to think things through. I like the synergy between the gear, gems, and skill tree. Simply put, I like that it isn't easy. Aside from TOG's sheer lack of content and toxic repetition, it was just too damn easy. This game is not easy and that's why I dig it. Cheers! |

" It is kinda similar to, say, Harbinger league. Something will hit you in the mosh no matter what, so you either harvest your xp from the blobs as fast as you can, or make something that can take the punishment. All the fun is in poebuilder, trading for your gear or getting pissed off for not being able to get the gear if you play ssf, until you hit the projected power level, not much fun to be had playing except with he final encounter. Might be more similar to Breach, actually, you have a ton of loosely timed clusterfuck, then another more strictly times clusterfuck and then you get a good boss encounter. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I am in Act 8 and I am not enjoying it anymore. I do alright against the act bosses but the syndicate thing isn't working for me. Feels like the only way to successfully kill them is to do it in a party since it's just me and sometimes 3 of them.
And the Perandes guy ... forget about it. He just shows up unexpected and kills me ... I can't even out run the dude. Kind of bummed. I didn't think the character I was working on was that bad. |

I'd just like a damage counter so I can see what killed me.
If its going to be this challenging, no prob. Ill work out a way to gear better. Currently I'm 5k life 3k MoM with max res including max chaos res and I still get 1 shot by... who knows? I have no way of learning anything from the encounter. No-one else seems to know either. So please just post some notes on the skills and damage types these syndicate guys are doing because we can't actually see any of it as most of it is off screen or the mobs cover everything. |

Maybe a bit, but that is totally consistent with what this game is about.
I like it the way it is. It should be hard, really hard. Where is it written that all game content should be below a certain threshold of difficulty? I hope they don't change it. I've really come to love that about this game, that a lot of stuff can be hard and that you don't get coddled and handheld through everything and can easily screw up and wreck yourself if you're not playing smart. There are so many other easy games that you can "tour" in a few days and then never play again... Last edited by ContractDragon#2857 on Dec 15, 2018, 7:41:51 PM
