I have vague memories of player trading in Ragnarok Online, and looked up some information.
You could set up a Buy Store where you could seek to buy items from other players with limits. And you could set up a shop to sell things to players through the Vending skill. (Merchants and apparently Super-Novices only.) And you couldn't just switch to an alternate character but had to stay logged in with that character. I also have a very fuzzy recollection of Tibia Online where there wasn't any trading system at all except for a trade hall location where each player could put items out on a table which had like... a glass partition thing, then the players could move over and pick up their trades. ...it's been a long time. Oh hang on, apparently Tibia Online added a safe trade system at some point. Seems kind of familiar... I am pretty sure he is asking about present day, not old games. Only ones i know of are D3 and POE XBOX.

Diablo 2 annihilus trade where you drop it then quickly pick it up and run towards whatever the other guy dropped.

There are plenty of trade system that are more bad for the game than PoE's trade system. But from a QoL point of view, it's bad.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I've only ever seen one that was worse: Diablo 3. Their auction hall was great until they added the real-money version. Combining real monies and allowing gold farming bots to go unchecked killed the trade in that game.
Other than that... I cannot imagine anything being worse than that trade chat crap POE has. As awful as the XBOX POE trade board looks, even that might be better than nothing. |

" diablo 2 is 15 years older...not even a valid comparison dude |

" D3 was terrible, but if they actually had a variety of items available at launch I think it would have been ok, even with the rmah. There was just nothing, uniques sucked and rares where just the wow type stats so you would find the gearing VERY boring VERY quickly. Blizzard also shit the bed on their implementation. Remember reading something where they were using a client side clock on the ah. So your buddy could put up 10 million gold on a piece of paper, you go buy it and reset your clock and poof you both have that gold now...this seems very, very amateurish to me. I know nothing of programing but even I would hear that and think wtf. |

[A Mess] I've never really played Runescape but...Runescape.
[Bad] Second to that was Tree of Savior, where due to botters exploiting the FUCK out of the AC due to the overzelously low gold drop rates at launch (fucking KR grind developers...) encouraged RMT via overpricing of items. [OK]Nostale has a semi-auction house system where you sat your player down somewhere (usually in the designated Shop/Dance Party area) and opened a 'shop' (your player with a bar of text above your head) which required you to leave the game running if you were afk in order to sell anything, but it didn't require any interaction between you and anyone else. IIRC Maplestory offers a similar system, but it's been a while since I've played and I think they may have blended it with a typical AH (and I'm certain MS2 is 100% remote AH). Never had A N Y issues with AH's in A N Y other game E V E R. |
