Forums just happen to be horrible places to discuss this kind of stuff because there is no instant feedback. Posts get buried, controversy gets downvoted even if they're right.

Of course this is the answer and well stated by Shabob. Let's get serious, my worst time playing this game has been douchebags in trade. And, hello? folks have macros that scoop up all the cheap stuff listed instantly, ever been pinged 20 times in about 15 seconds? I have and I generally log out to avoid the brain meltdown.

Just put in a AH (hell charge for it), fricking limit trades per day per account and we are good to go.

Well, I'm all for him sharing his opposing point of view but to say that "everyone" that disagrees with him has "zero critical thinking skills" is overstating his case by a large degree.

I think it would be fun if we could organize a real live debate between pro and anti AH proponents. First, identify people that actually DO have critical thinking skills and can express themselves without calling people "fuckwits" every other word. Second, convince GGG to fly us to New Zealand to hold the debates at GGG's facilities. Third, whoever wins the debate by popular vote of the debate viewers gets to have their signature permanently say "MY SIDE WAS IN THE MAJORITY YOU FUCKWITS!".

Then the debate will be over.

Debates aren't won by popular vote.

The problem with trade is really necessary. If trade were easy, in that I put stuff up for trade and return later and it's currency.. the game would be flooded with all those items people who don't bother with trade would easily rid themselves of. There's too many items out there. The value of items would drop to next to nothing. Gearing up would be "pick stuff up off the AH and then you can play the game". It would suck. No one would bother with loot, and without loot this game would suck.

It wouldn't take six months before the company folded.

GGG knows this. They keep items with value in the game because no one wants to waste their time with "good enough" items. They want "better than good enough" and are willing to pay for it.

That dynamic would change if trade were easy. With free "good enough" items, people would value "better than good enough" items less.

Well, considering the whole thing was facetious how about letting me slide on the incongruity? ;)

And this debate will NEVER be won.

At the moment with the trade function the game already gives you, you can trade, but you do not feel forced to do so.

You totally do if you want ateady access to play endgame content with a strong build not running yellow maps with some cripple.

Now with an AH, you would look for those items as soon you hit level35. With such a boost at each slot, the game would be for a laugh.

You already should do this. But it is pain in the ass and you have to choose between painful leveling with trash gear and painful trading.

This would take any joy to find your items by yourself, because each other with AH use, would be much better than you.

You already shoud buy things you need, because it is likely thay you won't find what you need before league ends. With my 2000+ hours there is a solid list of items I never found myself.

All modes have same Droprates and playing SSF is not with higher droprates than league or standard normal mode

They don't have to have same droprates, by the way.
Organic chemistry is a weird thing. If you add a spoon of shit to a barrel of jam you'll get a barrel of shit.
there is a dark secret about absence of auction house system in this game.
the absence of auction house system, leads to more interaction between players, true...
but interaction between players, is how this amazing free to play model works. this game has came a very long way, but it keeps going deeper.
it keeps getting better.

all thanks to the business model doing it's job without the need to ruin the game.

i am looking forward to see a pvp system, in 3 to 4 years. you may think it's a long time but this is how good and unique things develop

I do not understand how an AH would potentially ruin PoE.

We already have all the search functions we need integrated in poe.trade it just takes longer to trade for your stuff because you have to actually meet the dude selling it online.

Gannicus2491 wrote:
it is like poe.trade but with a big difference, you don´t have to be online to sell items.

That's hardly true for the simple reason that an auction house in PoE doesn't exist. GGG could easily implement a rule that you need to be online for your items to show up and if there needs to be a confirmation, you also just don't need to be online but present at the keyboard as well.
