Auction House
"LOL your still wrong. [Removed by Support]. And it isn't a yellow page not even close. It is even closer to a classified add than a yellow page. But still not correct as it doesn't update at set times. While it is bit laggy, and could update faster. It at least attempts to update in real time. I'm pretty sure you don't understand the difference, and you refuse to even acknowledge your made-up definitions might be wrong. That you are unwilling to take anything other than your opinion as fact. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Kieran_GGG#0000 on Oct 2, 2018, 5:14:01 PM

"D3 didn't have one at launch. And the AH isn't what killed D3. If it did, than why hasn't removing the AH fixed it? I think you need to get some facts strait as well. People were complaining about end game content, and difficulty way before the AH came out. Don't use D3 as example when you don't actually understand how it went down. *sigh*
open poe.trade. it says "INDEXER" in big bold letters on the top of every page. and guess what? it's what it is. an indexer. real-time? how do you think that's an argument? how is it not an indexer because it indexes in (almost) real-time? [Removed by Support]
"Your forum signature was removed as it was considered to be inappropriate and a breach of our Code of Conduct." ...it was quotes. from the forum. lolz! |

"So your saying an AH isn't an Indexer? I never said it wasn't a indexer. I said it isn't just an indexer. And you don't seem to understand the difference at all. But it clearly isn't a yellow page. Or a simple classified add either. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Kieran_GGG#0000 on Oct 2, 2018, 5:15:02 PM

"POE.Trade Doesn't simply just index an item. Here is a list of some of its functions: It list an item's marked or not marked sell price. It allows you to mark the price as negotiable or not. It shows you the owner of said item. It also creates a custom text string of the item location, and owner in one message. It calculates damage and other things for you. And even includes max quality pre-delve. It will even list how many items someone may have for sell of certain type. It has search Options galore. etc... Clearly this is way more than a simple indexer. And it isn't a yellow page either. You take the words AH literally. And not by the definition of what a real life AH does. So... Your still not worth the effort. I could point out the differences 100 times to you. And I still don't think you will understand. Edit: To further clarify, or make my point. The argument you seem to have is against: Auto Transactions. You could literally make an in game UI that functions just like POE.Trade. And still force people to send messages in order to get the item. The argument that your arguing, and not even understanding. Is your against auto transactions. You don't even seem to understand what the AH is that you are arguing against. So please don't use the word logic. When you haven't even bothered trying to understand what the other person said. It is illogical. Last edited by TheLockedGuy#0038 on Oct 2, 2018, 2:10:49 AM

" ...wtf are you talking about? an indexer has options/features?! no way! i guess it's magically an auction house now, despite not being an auction house. at all. It is so irritating to see the usual canards time and time again against having an automated system of some sort to process trades. It is always opposed by unproven, barely argued assertions: it would be bad because... the economy would be ruined!! Apparently I just need to take someone's word for that.
People, try to remember that all an automated system would do is remove the highly unreliable human element from a transaction. No more runs of 20+ whispers before getting a response, no more miscommunication, no more last second attempts to haggle over the price... you enter a sale and get the item. " Your memory of D3's AH is not accurate. D3 did not 'get rid' of their AH, they removed the real money function from it. And D3 cannot be said to have failed as a game by any stretch. |

" Speaking of taking things too literally, you seem to think the term 'indexer' means it only places the item on a list, and anything else means it is no longer merely an indexer. The real question is, does it process sales? No? Then it is not an auction house or equivalent. |

Gonna be straight here, the game needs it. I don't honestly give a shit what the majority think, CHINA has an auction house, XBOX has an auction house. It's only the western version of the game that decides trading should be a tedious drawn out mess. Messaging 20+ people to buy one item is among the most frustrating experiences I have in this game. It makes absolutely zero sense why we shouldn't have one. The game is already flooded with bots and price fixers that lead to exactly the same situation an auction house is argued against. It's one of the things that absolutely kills my enjoyment a lot of the time.
It's pure developer laziness and reliance on already established player built systems that stops the auction house from becoming a thing. If the folks who created poe.trade suddenly stopped doing it, where the hell would people be then? Rely on GGG's trading page? It's terrible. It takes even longer to use than poe.trade and results in exactly the same frustrations. Auction house is absolutely 100% required in my opinion for the game to grow and thrive and it's one of the essential problems that drive countless players away from the game every single league. |
