Delve, disrupting gameflow.

see i feel the exact same way. right now im using delve as something like - oh i need a weapon upgrade, ok lets go into delve and hit a couple weapon encampments. boom done. otherwise its ignored.
i can get more monsters faster with better xp and higher lvl drops just by continuing to progress through the acts, which i have to do anyway, than i can going into the delve and needing to worry about farming all these other resources.

there are clearly other benefits to delve, but i've yet to see or experience them so far. i've seen a couple encampments where it contains a breach or contains beyond, but the amount of time and work it would take to get to where they were from where i was on the delve map, wouldn't be worth it in the slightest.

and ya these hidden encampments holding currency and stuff like that. good luck finding those. even if you do, what will it take to get to, time and resource wise, compared to what you'll get out of it? in that time you could probably roll and run 2-3 maps and get more out of those.

i just don't see the point to delve right now.

i will love the concept of pushing my character to its limits with the infinitely scaling aspect of it, but i feel like i can easily ignore it until i've had my fill with t16 maps. that is not a good feeling for an entire league mechanic.
Working so only got to play a bit last night but I believe the deleves, while adding some else to do while leveling, are mostly meant to be an additional challenge that is NOT gated behind RNG and tons of in-game currency. I'm looking forward to seeing how deep (I can hear the chuckles) I can go.

Feeling somewhat the same.
I guess the idea is to provide something that adds a new way to ballance risk and rewards. We are supposed to explore darkness having the chance to find something rare or just death.
While the idea looks great on paper, the execution of flares is so bad that I don't feel any motivation to explore darkness beyond the crawler's light can carry me...
Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.

See... I don't even know what you mean by "encampment". Is that what I'm calling a "node" (from graph theory) or is it a particular type of node?
I'm finding that once you get to maps the flow of doing a few maps then doing a few delves, rinse, repeat is pretty nice. It breaks up the tedium of mapping in a satisfying way.

@Shagsbeard Yeah I think you guys mean the same thing by node and encampment.

The point of all the Delve stuff is pretty much the same as the rest of the game you are grinding for loot. Each node on the map has an icon that tells you what kind of loot you will get from going there, and if you backtrack after you do a delve you can use flares and dynamite to find hidden stuff in the darkness. The deeper you delve the cooler the loot.

You can mouse over the different Delve icons to give you more info about what is there. The azurite delves have a little Roman numeral under them to tell you how much azurite is there. The bigger the number the more azurite.

I hope that helps, I'm no real expert or anything, but if you have any specific questions I'll try to answer them.
Absolutely...leveling the same things again over and over again, no way...this sucks.
ya encampment means node. i just call them encampments because thats what they're called in the game when you have to "activate" the fight thing. but ya the nodes on the delve map.

finding hidden stuff, i dunno if i need to get more experienced and used to it, or if it needs improvements. i do like visiting the specific nodes for whatever you need, but it just seems like farming for azurite and stuff makes it more time consuming than just running maps.

i guess i'll see how things feel when i get to that point. but right now it doesn't seem worth any time to actually fight the monsters on the way to the node, or to backtrack at all, let alone use resources to search for hidden spots and stuff.

I think you are misunderstanding me, I really like Delve and am having a lot of fun with it.

Weird, I actually see the maps as the boring tedious part. The only reason I do the maps is so that I will have the sulfur stuff to do more delves.

I think that the reason people think they are unrewarding is that while you are leveling you are constantly doing delves that are way beneath your level. At least that is what happened to me.

I guess for me it's just a new challenge, with new mechanics, and new crafting, and I like that. That being said it can be super rippy and if you are playing HC frustration might become a thing.

Indeed, the added tedium of grinding for resources to grind for spots to grind for loot... I get that we are talking about GrindingGearGames, but somewhere a line has to be drawn between a game and serious NON-PAID work (I am exaggerating for those who cant read between the lines, but still...).
Nah... it's not that they're bellow my level. I'm fine with that. I just don't get how to do these things. The only thing I can do is follow the cart to the end and kill all the monsters there. Anything else kills me. Go off to the side to explore? = Dead. Try flares? = Dead. Anything else? Not that I can see.

I know I'm missing something, because people talk about other stuff. Underground cities. Walls to blow up. Vaults to raid. But I haven't seen it or even had a glimpse as to how to see it.
