If you're bad at video games you shouldn't review games at all.

" Well, it depends on gear level mostly. With my first league build I do. For example, a rare with extra life and increased resistances, if my damage is elemental mostly, I just walk right past it. They're nasty to me in the sense they would take too long in terms of xp. That may fall under the can't be bothered category better :) If I've been pushing the speed a bit (I'm a real fan of reaching blood aquaduct and then to get a bit more serious) and am somewhat undergeared I leave alot of things alone. I'm still practicing what to clear and what not to, trying to follow those racers a bit and I sure have a lot to improve. Tons. What I noticed in the play of my friend is that he tried to cope with everything there is, and that he felt that he had to be able to do it or otherwise he'd feel his build had failed. I think it's common for new players to deal with everything possible, because in order to skip things you need to know the way already. I advised him to just walk past nasty stuff and to not feel bad about it as his chosen build would flourish a bit later in the game. And with some practice he'd do it all just fine. Maybe a bit comparable to the reviewer sundering, although my friend got quite some benefit from using a build guide. My point was to compare the play style of full clears with how much actual clearing is done when optimally leveling (like RaizQT/Deadanddoom and other optimized racers). The labs too require some knowledge on how tough it will be through experience. If a completely fresh player would enter them as soon as the story allows them, they may meet a short end. It also depends on the buffs and which Izaro, which for a new player can make a dazzling difference. Hence from my point of view I advise them to skip it until they're fairly buff and that asking for a lab carry is nothing to be ashamed about. My next characters usually end up so twinked content doesn't matter. So I'd be a horrible SSF player in that sense :) Did you try turning it off and on again?

You're comparing an ARPG to different games what's wrong with you? Like explain what the fuck do those games have in common with path of exile.

Well, I know someone who has put more than 200 hours into these forums and still hasn't achieved the 'common decency' level.

If you are bad at english and constructing sentences you shouldn't write at all.
I like this game, now you go. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I don't get why it's such a big deal to you. Doesn't matter if the guy who made the review took 75 or 7 hours to finish act 10 or if his sunder has 2 or 2 mil dps. Clearly you have better things to do, no?

" Clearly she does not. You can tell a lot of a person by what annoys them. On the other hand i'm an optimist, so all i see is a dude who probably has decent skills in writing and english and a little princess who can play PoE, it's a match made in heaven. Video game journalists are pretty famously bad at most games, especially polygon they make me laugh so many times every year.
However that really doesn't stop you reviewing the game as long as your aware of your own shortcomings. If you make statements like its too hard etc then yeah your straying into dangerous territory but mostly they get by. I don't actually believe the statement anyway as I don't think its possible to proceed at the pace suggested without deliberately tooling about, even for a terrible player, I feel like it means your averaging a bit over an hour per zone which would be many times slower than even my first time playing the game. |

POE is a hard game to review. It almost needs to be reviewed three times by the same person.
First time player experience - going through the acts Interim player experience - learning how to handle maps Experienced player experience - Learning how to fine tune, gear, and run Red Maps, Guardians etc. Having a full game review based on a first time player spending 75 grueling hours not understanding gems/the tree/filters/game mechanics is not really fair. It is going to scare off so many would be fire time players |
