How to get rich?
" People SAY this ALL the time, but it makes NO sense to me. ONCE again it comes down to people getting REALLY lucky with their drops. If I do a Jail + Merveil run, from both those COMBINED places being ran, guess how many Scrolls of Wisdom drop for me? Maybe three. MAYBE. How can you sit there and pick up everything that drops, ID it, and then sell it for mega Alt Orbs? It just doesn't ADD UP... |

I'll probably get some flake for my view on this, but it's the conclusion I've gotten to after playing the game for a while.
First off, you can't use currencies to upgrade your gear. If you absolutely have to, you should be extremely austere and measured on what and how you spend it (e.g. never exalt anything unless it has literally no wasted mods and the mods you have are already in the highest range). Saving is the basis to wealth. This is, to me and many others, the hardest part. It's hard to not get flustered and just blow your currency on trying to reroll or pimp your gear. At the end of the day, it's a gamble, and, like in most gambles, the house always wins. The trick is to never waste a single Chaos unless it's absolutely necessary (and those instances are very few and far between). By extension, this means that you will pretty much have to use self-found gear, which sounds a lot worse than it actually is. With the current state of trading, finding a piece you actually need at a reasonable price is a challenge, to say the least. Self-found gear is easier to take advantage of if you reroll a couple of times, since you cause a snowball effect (as long as you don't switch back and forth between CI and HP builds). Just playing the game and trying out a few builds to decent levels will net you a solid gear set in terms of HP/ES/resists. Then you have the RNG factor, which is one of the things that GGG has to fine-tune after some of the major issues are solved. Because of how limited itemization is at the moment, you still get a system based on jackpot finds (not unlike D3, as I hear). You can be piss-poor, but if for some reason you drop one of the highly coveted uniques, then bam, you now have 20 Exalted. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but everything else in the game points to slow and steady progression instead of volatile ups-and-downs such as jackpot items. Only requirement? Reaching end-game and luck. Lastly, you have the marathon factor. Permanent league means that, as long as you keep playing the game, just because of basic math you'll accumulate wealth as a byproduct of your game time. The perceived gains might be shitty and frustrating, but the curve is evergrowing, so that's somewhat comforting. This is also reflected on the fact that, even if you were to drop all your currency in enhancing your gear, it's never 'lost'. Generally speaking, there are no gold sinks where your currency just disappears; you're always converting one form of currency (orb) to another (gear). Of course, if you just blow five stacks of Chaos unnecessarily, you'd be getting a terrible deal out of it, but still, it's not a total loss. There are some fringe scenarios, like chancescouring and flipping items for a profit, but, at this stage, I don't think any of those are too significant to actually make a huge difference for most players (mainly because of the logistics involved). In the same vein, there's also multiboxing. That's probably worth it if you're diligent enough to be a consistent farmer, but truth is, most of us don't want to bother with that gimmick. Sorry about the TL;DR, got carried away. Last edited by dndallasta#1042 on Mar 3, 2013, 1:25:40 AM

" Currently sitting on 750+ wisdom scrolls. I pick up any high level magic item base that I'm currently looking for and ID it to see what starting mods are in hopes of regaling it, and eventually exalting it into awesome gear. I also 3-name rare find, so I pick up and ID every rare item I get and save it. The 750+ scrolls is what I have left over. |

get a bunch of +20 all resist or +20 rarity amulets.
Get a bunch of +15 rarity+ rings. These must all be >ilevel 70. Alc these. Sell the godly ones for gcps/exalts Rinse repeat. The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

Because he has viewers that pretty much just want interaction with him... same with all the big name streamers... The "NugiPricelist" is a good thing to go by for hardcore.. but it is really not practical when you don't have a group of people that know of these prices so they think you're just taking advantage of them lol.
As for being rich... I think you should just hoard all of your orbs/currencies and wait... farm farm farm farm farm(repeat forever) and then when something comes along that you really want or you can really modify to be perfect... then do it. But.. (from experience up until a few days ago) I would not use currency to modify items period. I've come to find that when I was using alterations on flasks to try and get a perfect roll, I thought alterations were just another low ball currency that was useless, well, that wasn't the case and when I went to do maps, I was completely screwed and fast farmed Ledge for around 5 hours while I was watching reruns of True Blood just to get enough alterations from selling shit to run maps the next day. You really have to be conservative when it comes to currency in this game, you really can't take a risk of being generous because it will most likely bite you in the ass(multiple times) and then you have to again farm(repeating) until you get your currency back up only to fuck up again and do it all over. This game is like poker, and if you have shitty RNG, you're going to be broke as shit. It's fact! It blows but meh.. I enjoy the game anyways. :P When I was farming Ledge, I had 100+ quality and quantity since I was just using my chest piece and wand/shield(wand templar) and I killed quite fast considering Ledge was pretty low for me(also effects currency drops but with the speed of clear it kind of evens out... I did find an exalted :D ) and I still had no drops other than the exalted.. but I did get a lot of blues/rares that I sold for shards and it turned out I eventually had around 6 stacks of alterations around 5 or 6 alchemy orbs(from shards) and a few chaos from recipes. :D I'm sorry I'm rambling.. It's 2 am and I'm kinda typing this with one eye closed and I thought I'd just give my opinion on the matter, since I, myself, have some of the shittiest luck when it comes to this game. TL;DR Don't use your shit, sell everything that drops if you can't use it. :P ps: I might possibly maybe have a slight addiction to ellipses..
