Sorry but incursions just suck
" You're definitely not wrong there. I would be disappointed though if it became Zana only or maps only. Perhaps starting in Act 5 or 6. Not so late that you get no leveling benefit but not so early that it's an easy button. Again, slight rebalancing is needed but I do hope it doesn't become so rare that it's almost pointless to have in the game at all. I am having a real problem with my motivation at this league.
At Bestiary you had a goal, something to work for. At Incursions you have nothing like that. 11 small maps, that you can´t clear and even if you do, the key will drop at some place where you can´t backtrack anymore, so the temple has a lot of non connected rooms. The rooms itself, drop nothing of worth, no loot explosions or anything. With all due respect to the designer, but to me that content seems rushed. There is no reason to keep it in the game, it´s as pointless as Tempests. A key drop should stop the timer, the rooms should be about treasures and super rare items, the bosses should drop set items, div cards and maps. To me, timers just ruin the fun, it´s as if someone would stand next to you with a gun pointed to your head. Bestiary was a lot more fun, it served a true purpose and offered something brand new. That being said, due Incursion I am now playing a brand new build, as my old summoner doesn´t work with the mechanic. |

" Not only that but the OP keeps his Jolt cola in the built-in cup holder in his gaming rig. I find it insane to the max to complain that the main gimmick of the challenge league is speed running the temple to clear the room, grab the passage key(s), and unlock the door before the time runs out, and not play a fast mob kill build. My first build was a Frost Bolt Hierophant and even at level 75 with 4 FB totems the temple clear speed is lackluster. So I started over and my 2nd build is a meta build Arc trapper + Flamethrower trap Saboteur. Once I got my Mirebough Staff and first 2 ascendancy points I was good to go and cruised the rest of the acts. Arc + trap + cluster traps + trap and mine critical damage + increased critical strikes and I'm able to increase the incursion timer up to 30 seconds much of the time and have even full cleared the easy to navigate rooms with 20 secs left (killed both Omnitechs). So it's just that 98%+ of builds are going to be too slow for incursion temple runs and hence the "incursions just suck". Play the Arc trapper Incursion meta build (or any other equally fast temple mob clearing build) and "incursions are fun to play". Now whether you think having a challenge league that focus's on a very narrow range of builds is bad or not is what this discussion is about. If you are like the OP and can't get a build to work fast enough for the very short timer then you will be in the "league sucks" camp. If you go with a league meta build then you're in the "league is great" camp. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

" Other than the bad rng chance that you are dumped into the middle of a mob pack (that's terrible and should be checked for and not allowed) apparently most of you missed the early post that gave great advise as to how to optimize temple runs. The OP of that thread recommended that you start on the opposite side of the room from the door you want to unlock and work your way around (clockwise or counterclockwise doesn't matter) clearing mobs and when/if a key drops you can grab it and then if time is low you can make a direct bee line to the door. That way if the first mob you kill drops a key on the opposite side of the room you should have plenty of time to get to the door. If you get the key near the end of your room sweep and time is short you are already near the door. So it works well on both situations and that advice works well for me and should for you too. But it all boils down to the understanding that there is a minimum clear speed threshold. If your build falls below that you'll fail to unlock doors and you can just forget about killing the Omnitech or other rare beasts in time. Totally logical but sorry if your favorite build isn't fast enough. Maybe this league you stop and enjoy summer (or winter down under) if you're not interested in playing this league's meta build. Chris says "let slow the game down" .... league after league timers! speed it up add more move speed items!
If this league was designed to show just how bad movement abilities are then bravo! Meta move speed builds grats best league ever. The other 70% of builds sorry no league for you |

" Correction please. What Chris said in a pre-Incursion League interview (while on his PR tour) is that he'd like to slow down the game play speed but would get a huge backlash of complaints and would lose a lot of their player base (and thus revenue). So going with "speed racing league" to counter all the haters of Bestiary "beast encounters are too slow... WAH! WAH!" was a no brainer of a league mechanic. If the incursions are getting ugly and you start dying while you are not able to unlock doors or upgrade room because the boss kills you faster than you kill him, then you have to reduce the level of the incursions.
When I started to go mapping, I was not ready for higher yellow maps, even tier 4-5 gave me hard times, I knew it is not good to do this, just because always want to go higher tier maps. I started with low level incursions, like the vastiri dessert Lev61 or later reliquary lev67. First I looked to get the temple complete, then I started to upgrade when I could the rooms. When it was sure, my temple is connected I looked to have 3-4 incursions at a higher level, like 72. It showed it is enough to have 4 times higher tier and 7 times low level to get a 72 level temple. With the time I got better and increased the map level for the incursions, but if it needs to be a safe and sure way to get the temple room connected to the entry, I am not afraid to go for a low level map until all is perfect connected. Try it helps. There is no exp or loot when you are dead. |

" It's one thing to keep move speed meta in game its another to toss a timer on top of it to slap players in the face. Every game ever made when the dev's lack any sort of originality for difficult content, they simply toss a timer on things. Its lazy and weak. Make encounter's legit hard don't just toss a timer on it and say its harder. This game constantly leaves skills undervalued and underused while allowing broken meta to be abused. (stat stick/double dipping) Adding a timer to things simply makes even more builds worthless now since they use a crappy move speed skill or are not abusing game mechanics.
