People tend to exaggerate and not include their costs and hidden costs, only their profits.

Just mapping alone, going by those 100 of x maps data (reddit has a ton of those), the average c per hour seems to be around the 30-40ish region if you map and sell stuff efficiently, more if you get lucky drops.

Currency flippers certainly earn much faster as every transaction is a profit.

I used to do a lot of those map data experiments myself and usually got somewhere around 100C+ per hour. Last time I did this was back in legacy though so I am probably not really netting an exalt or more per hour anymore (though the current flashback league might come close again).

30-40 is way too low though. Just googled some Reddit posts of this kind and they usually at least manage 70+C/hour. Lifting has a video up where he runs T1 Beach exclusively and ends up at 45C/hour. On high map tiers you will make a lot more though.

I have watched those Lifting videos, they are very interesting and entertaining.

One issue I have is that the income calculations are based on a ton of assumptions (obviously), namely both demand for an item and what you can sell it for. Also the income per hour does not incorporate the amount of time after the fact you spend organizing and then trading said items. Only chase stuff sells with little time and effort, is that not a correct statement?

That is perhaps getting a little too into the weeds, but every time I watch these videos these same thoughts come up.

I think this is a very good point. Just the cost of rolling maps can add up. Figure for red maps you might spend on average:
4 chisels
alchemy orb
1-2C to reroll for quantity or avoid mods like reflect or temp chains.
Possibly Vaal it
2-4 chaos to add zana mod

Figure that's roughly 6-8 chaos spent per map rolling it, and maybe takes 10 minutes to run a map. Thats 36-48c an hour spent rolling maps. I think thats pretty ballpark for myself, but I still turn a profit doing this... so my chaos per hour revenue is significantly higher than 36-48.

Tbh if you are willing to play no other game and spend most of your life to this game you can be rich. Otherwise you get some chaos or an ex if you are lucky.

i'm running on my comfortable 10c x hour.. :/

and i'm still enjoying the game o.O
