No secret. You can play more hours, you'll have lots of currency. Both my first 2 exalted for seasons came from chest while leveling. It's all just RNG. You can speed your chances by clearing maps with a non-borked build, but POE comes down to how many hours you can play per day - like with many games.

Some of these maps are far from straight though, for example, "Mineral Pools Map", "Lookout" map. How about Arid Lake, Dunes, Waste Pool, Toxic Sewers, Shore, Estuary?
Wait, you still don't shape UGS, Armoury and other amazing maps for your red maps? With density changes one probably should prefer high density maps for T6+ shaping, such as Thicket or UGS for T6, or Armoury for T8.
Good guide overall, shame people didn't appreciated it. Though I am not sure if it's worth to pick up chromatic bases when chromes themselves arel ike 12-15:1 and these bases can easily take up entire inventory.
Mineral Pools is a bunch of squares. With a bow character this is easy to farm. Same goes for Lookout.
Dunes, Arid Lake and Shore are supposed to be in there. Thanks for telling me. Seems I didn't update correctly. Especially because those 3 are among my favorites o_O
I don't like Underground Sea and fuck Armoury. Armoury has like one of the shittiest layouts. Lots of small corridors and rooms and bridges. Fuck that map.
Waste Pool and Toxic Sewers have rippy spike damage, shaping them is not worth my time.
Estuary... is fine, but I don't like the boss, so I just sell it.
I shape maps that I run very often. For example: Beach, Shore, Underground River, Dunes, Iceberg and Mesa. I don't care much about sextant spawns, I use them however I like. I don't do any of this sextant-blocking crap.
As for Chromatics, they are worth it to me. I roll colors on a daily basis. I need many myself and what I don't need I sell.
Armoury is actually very good layout now, it's all finely connected, big rooms, no backtracking, just clear map normally (sides first and then center). Give it a try. While Mineral Pools have actual deadends and often require backtracking to fully clear it. It can have a good layout sometimes, but more often then not it doesn't, at least for me.
Spike damage in Sewers / Waste Pool? Do you mean random mobs? You are not hardcore player to be afraid of that though, right? Interesting.
You can't sextant block now though. You also can't shape Mesa, it's T11, you can use Elder orb on it at best.
It seems like you are talking from perspective of previous League, not current patch and League. A lot of stuff changed, no packsize League first time since Essence (But Essene was before 3.0 and maps were filled to the brim with monsters, sextant blocking was around as well) combined with little to no mobs in most maps makes most efficient strategy playing THICC maps like aforementioned ones. Sustain of red maps with these maps is so much better. Advicing them to new player would be better idea.

I made a ton of currency this league by selling maps. T13-T15 maps can usually sell for 10-25c or so.
I got so many messages from people trying to buy T9 and T10 maps from me at 3 chisel a pop that I had to ignore many of them. Or ask that people buy a minimum of 3 to make it worth my time.
With the new way they handle sextants, I don't think it makes sense to craft your atlas around a few maps anymore. Get the bonus for all the maps you can. Sometimes you have to buy a few early on to fill out the atlas. Sooner or later your drop rate for T8-13 maps is more than you can run.
Uber Lab fragment keys go for 3-5c easy. Unidentified chaos recipe is a slow but constant source. Pick up all rare unidentified rings, amulets and belts. Only identify those that you could possibly use. A base that you would never use goes into your rec(ipe) stash tab. This might not hold true for T14+ high base rings and amulets since you can get some T1 rolls.
I think flipping currency is a dirty way to make money, but I am very glad that people do it because sooner or later you have 1,000 jewelers that you want to convert into ~100c. (from picking up all 6 socket items)
Create a public stash tab or two and park things there that you think would sell. If it gets full, vendor some of the things that are not selling, make another tab, or drop some prices.
Get a divination card stash tab and be willing to sell. Some of the sets you're just not going to complete yourself in a single league.
Keep an eye on your prophecies, most are crap... but some can be very valuable. So don't be scared to return to a low level area or just seal a proph so you can cycle to a new one. I got the fated version of kaoms sign this league. 4ex or so I think it was.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back. Last edited by Trapperkeeper#6979 on May 17, 2018, 2:18:13 PM

Lots of Chaos damage and heavy hitters for their tier. Just because I spend most of my time in Softcore doesn't mean I don't care about deaths. I actually play it as if it were HC, except I don't log out or use a Portal. Each death is a slap in the face to me.

Yeah, that's true. I'm still getting used to that jump from Tier 4 to Tier 11. I hate it when they change maps and tiers. I mean, I still sometimes forget that Cemetery is now Gruthkul -.-

According to who? Your average streamer where his viewers decide what is what based on his average drops? Come on... I run the same shit every league until they change it and I can't complain about anything. Like I said, people were complaining about map drops in Abyss league while I had several tabs full with maps and I even sold a fuckton.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
According to common sense? These maps have more monsters = more loot, including more maps dropping.
It seems like you barealy had taste of current League / patch and stuck in the past with outdated strategies instead of adjusting to changes. Or more like you didn't even noticed them.

Sounds like a lot of work. Funny how I always have like a couple hundred exalts and 6Ls every league and never repeat a map. 92-93 and out which you can do never repeating a map.
Work smarter not harder

Common sense would tell you that you'll clear more monsters on average on easy layouts than high density maps. I choose maps that have balanced amount of monsters and an easy enough layout. That way I don't waste time checking corners and dead ends.
You are talking about what was working before. Bestiary and 3.2 are different to what it was before. I told you that multiple tiems yet you still managed to miss it. Bestiary has least ammounts of monsters we seen in years, it's like twice or even less monsters per map on average. You won't have more monsters to kill if you have no maps to run. -_\\\ This is why people started to run Underground Sea and similar maps with a lot of monsters.

CaptainWARLORD wrote:
Yes, it's no secret that I barely got to play the league. Last time I played was March 8th. Which is a shame because I liked most parts about Bestiary.
Did you even get to "sustaining red maps" phase in 3.2? It appears you have no idea what you are talking about but still arguing for some reason.

It's absolutely correct. Flippers make many many times what you would make actually playing the game. People with HH, mirrors etc don't get it actually playing the game. I don't like it, at all. Just saying how it is.
Pointing out you make enough to afford all you need during a league is not what the discussion is about and not what I'm saying. That's not "rich", and you don't get " rich" actually playing the game. You just don't. 40 exalts in 3 days "just playing" is hyperbole.
Peace,
-Boem-
I might not make 40Ex in 3 days, but I can buy whatever chase uniques are out there and everything else I desire during the cause of a league. That includes HH. So saying that you stay poor because you play the actual game is just not correct.
From personal experience I can make between 1 and 2 Ex profit an hour just mapping, not counting the handful of big drops you will come across each league. That is without any kind of super special setup. I usually do not run any shaped strategy nor did I ever make an elder ring. So there is the potential for much higher hourly rates just from mapping.
If you define rich as being decked out in all miror gear then yeah I cannot achieve that. What I can aquire is good gear and I can beat all content the game has to offer with it. I usually also buy all the league specific uniques and some other nice stuff I want to let rot in standard. I'd say that is rich enough ;) That is all by playing casually in terms of time available what with having a job, family etc.
The apparent fact some of you are SOMEHOW able to make 1-2 exalt per hour quite literally makes me want to never return to this game. My experience is absolutely no where near what you are saying, and I've logged hundreds upon hundreds of hours since closed beta. Badly rolled yellows with t6-t8 affixes, common low tier uniques, the odd chaos, 6 socket...its just hours and hours and hours of that shit.
Somehow you are playing a entirely different game than the one I've played.
Peace,
-Boem-

Well, this is so true, I had the same experience when I was noob and played standart solo first months.
Then I've tried deadeye windripper mf.
This is completely different game, you are right.
Everything else now is like under double temporal chains with no loot.
Very hard to choose smth for league starter (deadeye not the best option here, he has problems with completing the atlas) (

People tend to exaggerate and not include their costs and hidden costs, only their profits.
Just mapping alone, going by those 100 of x maps data (reddit has a ton of those), the average c per hour seems to be around the 30-40ish region if you map and sell stuff efficiently, more if you get lucky drops.
Currency flippers certainly earn much faster as every transaction is a profit.
I have an Alien pet.
