never even engaged with shaper. had the chance at harbinger where i played so much i was even able to buy shaper sets cause they were piss cheap but i didn't because it felt like cheating the game, wanted to do all guardians first but failed on that.
if i had bound my ggg support on how many times i died in this game or rage quit cause i failed a boss, ggg would never have seen a penny from me. i supported because they ever provided challenging gameplay that can kill you while other games didn't. grow some balls and get on. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

OP didn't provide many reasons why Shaper is such a badly designed fight, so let me help:
1. The hitboxes are really bad. I have been hit by many of his and some of his "uncreated" minion attacks even when i was clearly out of the way or in zana's bubble. 2. Kill fast or go home designs (arena fills with x/ boss gets stroger the longer you take to kill y) promotes only big dps numbers, not so much defence, as it renders most defensive builds useless. A well designed bossfight would reward any previous choice you made in the game. Makes the game feel one-demensional and not complex at all. Same with the labyrinth. 3. The four random bosses before his encounter are unnecessary. We already killed four of his guardians to get to him, why are there four random very easy minibosses before him? Was it meant to be some other specifically designed ones or is it just for more loot? If it's the former then they should just be removed and if it's the latter then they should appear as "void chests" after you kill shaper. Now they serve no other purpose other than to waste our time. I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready. Let me add a comparison with Starcraft: Poe is a bit like if you were able to become the very best Starcraft player by only 5 gating every opponent in every single match at any time. PoE is like that. You take the most abusive build which allows you to skip most or all relevant phases of a well designed and well played out macro game. What GGG has never understood, is, that you divide strengthes and weeknesses evenly over the classes or races of the game. What they instead used to do and still do is putting everything into the same hands: The same glass cannon build that level 2x as fast as average, will do boss fights 4x as quickly and safely, and get rich 8x as much due to the gear which these builds use will increase in value (demand) and eventually in parts become legacy (cause op). That is PoE in a nutshell. Nothing more and nothing less. When you then blame GGG about bad design, those abusive 5-gate players come and insist the game must evolve around that kind of gameplay. That is what you see here in this thread. A good design could split strengthes and weaknesses up or in fact remove everything else than 5-gate abuse and make it the game. Neither does PoE. For example could those ranged glass-cannons be fastest in leveling while they have a hard time in killing bosses efficiently while a well armored but slow melee guy could be better for killing bosses but be slower in leveling. It is not that hard to implement, but it is a matter of being willing to do so. As there is no will (evidentially), people are well adviced to move on. Yep hate to repeat myself but it's just another thing D2 did right again! I can't even count how many people complain about starting maps in general and die instantly. They have close to or maxed res, a decent dps, and defenses, but they go around and get one shot on even tier 3 maps LOL! Then you fast forward to a really good player and you've got EVERYTHING but still even if you do a fight perfectly good ole POE RNG steps in and you die from literally nothing. I just don't see the appeal to having to avoid every single enemy perfectly after like tier 8+ because no matter what you're a glass cannon. I mean haven't they seen how many people complain about how literally pointless defense, evasion, maxed res, and damage reduction are? They become virtually pointless after a certain point so wtf even is the point!? ROFL

" i have said this a few times as well in other threads (or somthing similar) make more and more bosses that have an "enrage" is a horrible design choice. with enrage i mean that the area getts filled with more and more stuff be it minions aore deadly aoe zones. ppl should be allowed to "zerg" down a boss,if tehy are able to avoid/dodge the deadly skillshots/attacks for the full duration of the fight. ppl that would fight the bosses in those long fight would often do it just to see if they can beat the boss wth a build,but since its mostly a dps race many ppl dont even bother trying. |
