Uninstalled

Today I've uninstalled PoE. End game content is garbage. One shot/instant death/random death mechanics are not fun. There's nothing enjoyable about them. You've effectively pigeon holed the entire community into a handful of builds with the one shot spam. Elder is not fun. Elder influence is not fun. Chasing elder around to get shitty drops is not fun.

The decision to uninstall came after I bought a shaper set, and tried to run shaper for the first time. I've seen enough videos that I understand the mechanics. I handled the beam fine. I kept zana alive through the portal phase. My deaths came from random instant death, that I have no clue of the source. I wasn't in the beam. The only thing I can think is it was the circles on the ground, which he stands on top of, preventing any melee character from applying dps.

I've spent $55 on this game, and I regret every penny. I will not spend another dime on this game, nor will I play it in the future. No you can't have my stuff, the game is already uninstalled. Keep at it, GGG. Solid game design. Now I'll find something else to do while I watch Netflix.

Shaper is 100% a mechanical fight. If you know the mechanics you can do it with 1hp. There's clearly something that you had not noticed from the YouTube videos you watched. Not killing a boss on your first try really isn't a valid reason to uninstall IMO.

That was just the final straw. In every YouTube video I've seen, shaper dies in a matter of seconds. I think that speaks for itself as far as how much of a "mechanical fight" it really is. In reality, the mechanics are shit so everyone just gets their favorite flavor of the month build that can kill him in seconds, so they don't have to deal with the piss poor mechanics.

The build I used was putting out 1M dps with flasks, for reference. A glacial hammer jugg with a fairly solid build. The only questionable part of the build is abyssus, but I'm fairly certain physical damage isn't really a concern with shaper.

He has a default melee attack like everything else.

Shaper dies in a matter of seconds, now, due to power creep since he was put in. Doesn't mean everyone that does it has 10m dps. I've killed him with 90k dps where you do have to learn the mechanics and how to avoid crap. He's probably one of the fairer end game fights because of his mechanics, everybody has a chance to do it. Just because you tried to brute force your way through, doesn't make it piss poor mechanics.

to be honest i find the shaper fight much easier then the guardians/elder guardians.
Though i always had a decent amount of dps to get through the last phase before the entire screen was filled with aoe. That is probably the only part of the fight i never learned.

I didnt kill it on my first few tries though , as it seemed impossible before realizing what i needed to dodge or bait out.

That's because nobody wants to make an hour long video showing a weak character shaper kill and nobody wants to watch an hour long video of that. Using youtube videos to base your opinions on is not the best way to be objective.

If you died to shaper it's a mechanical thing.

It's YOUR fault.

It takes practice in order to effectively deal with a number of bosses in PoE, shaper being one of them. Youtube videos don't cut it. But, with some time invested in practicing the fight, I'd be willing to bet you'd be able to run it deathless every time barring stupid mistakes or lag/dc issues.

This isn't diablo. The game is challenging, which many of us enjoy. If you don't find the challenge fun and aren't willing to learn, then you've made the right choice to uninstall.

Also - I tend not to run meta builds and do just fine. You do need to acknowledge the limitations of your build, but there's nothing pigeon-holing you into a meta build.
