Hardest build to die with in Hardcore?
|
It's one thing progressing through maps to get to uber elder, and another thing farming the same area over and over just to get currency. The former gives me a sense of progression, the latter makes me fall asleep. It's why I hate the currency system in PoE. Why not make creating builds the limiting factor of how good your char is? Instead GGG decided to make the limiting factor how much you can grind. I can enjoy playing LoL/Dota 2/Fornite/CS etc. by playing half an hour a day, I can never enjoy playing path of exile playing half an hour a day, I'll never get anywhere with that much play time. It's why path of exile will never be a big game, it's too casual-unfriendly

" Well, I beg to differ sir. ![]() You are also comparing the build to a legacy build using gear not possible in the game anymore that died, anyway. So, the point seems to be moot. As you still die even if you tank it according to the video you, yourself posted. Anyway, regardless. Its cool you found your build. Just play it in softcore, before you try it on hardcore is all I'm saying. A lot of things can still kill you. Especially, the cheaper you go. (⌐■_■)

That's not uber flameblast tanking, that's spellblock. Anyone can upload a video with the same results with a random gladiator build. If you don't block it, a single uber flameblast will kill you.
The build is still insanely tanky, but there's no need to present misleading information. At the OP: you've chosen a generic sword crit gladiator build, it's pretty solid but it's also not even close to unkillable. He uses VP, which means a corrupting blood pack will kill you in ~2 seconds if you're not careful. Other degens will do the job too. You can also be oneshot by a number of boss KO attacks. It's a good build, but don't buy in the hype. There's an annoying tendency for builds on the forum to be presented as the next best thing since sliced bread and to be overhyped. If you try to do HC shaper without being good at the fight mechanically, you'll have your ass handed to you. That's why I recommended looking at actual high-level HC builds. I would go to poebuilds.io and browse gladiator builds in Bestiary HC to look what actually works there. You could also have a look at AlkaizerX's gladiator build, he has multiple HC lvl 100s and played this build a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEq5Sq175Hk You have to be realistic about these things.

" Fair enough. I don't dispute that anyway. You can survive one or two flameblasts if the situation allows it via spellblock or with purity and flasks etc.... It's just when someone presents and outdated build and claims it to be tanker. I'm just like...yeah...you know that's not possible anymore right? Pfft. Tankier build. Grumble. Grumble. (⌐■_■)

If I'm to ever go hardcore, I'd put all my bets on xirgil cranker occultist.

" It's ok bro, I got you, don't worry! Here I played a little bit with your build and the LL RF mana guardian build that is on top of the templar forum, I did some changes to equalize and optimize the builds as much as possible (I skipped corrupting jewels, looking for shaper/elder mods on most of the items, optimizing the trees and etc., but the builds are 90% optimized), for example I removed RF since the guy had 4-5X your dmg to begin with, it was only fair to remove some dmg and invest the points into defence so the builds are as equalized as possible, I did some gem swaps to improve the builds, and ofc I equalized the mods and gems as much as possible (again not counting shaper/elder mods, I skipped these for the most part), and here are the results: Yours: https://pastebin.com/PpTZqjZx His: https://pastebin.com/huQCwcyg I still have some work to do, corrupt jewels, put shaper/elder mods on the remaining rares, make some tree changes, maybe swap jewels for reckless defense on his build, perhaps get some more dps nodes and get the gut fortress and a few other things, but they're mostly done as of right now so I just wanted you to see how inferior your build is starting to look in comparison to his, and it's only gonna get worse from here the more optimized they get. I haven't touched the flasks btw, on either build, they can be the same so no point to look at them. I also haven't put the "added cold/lightning damage to attacks" to proc EE, but that is as easy as swapping 1 mod on the rings Last edited by FnTsTiC#0026 on Mar 26, 2018, 9:25:25 PM

As the other poster mentioned. CI/Low Life Guardian is probably the tankiest build in this game.
That said, Guardian's damage output is pretty trash, but if you want tanky, they are at the top. |
