Hardest build to die with in Hardcore?

Won't be a popular build but I really liked my CI Caustic arrow Trickster. You could also do it as an occultist or some other acendancy I'm sure.

Key uniques are cheap, just a soul strike quiver and a bated breath. Get a big enough pool so that you dont get one-shot and then you can run when you get hit an recharge in about 1 second.

DPS isnt the greatest, but it scales decently into yellow and possibly red maps with investment and is unique and relatively safe.

Honestly I feel way more comfortable with high regen builds then I do with leech nowadays.

Well, now that instant leech is mostly gone, Leech builds ARE just high regen builds where the regen shuts off if you're not attacking. That's one thing I really miss about VP, it made leech feel mechanically different then regen.
There isn't. You use macro logout and skipp most bosses and farm white maps. You also want a cheap one? GL

Except that DD doesn't deal % health, but rather secondary fire damage. So not really a testament to it's op-ness lol.

You're thinking of VD, which deals 3% health as fire damage.

Are you certain? Pretty sure DD always does at least 6% of the corpse's max health. That's why there's such a gigantic difference between a white mob popping and a boss corpse popping.
Ok, so I'm doing this https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2109025 build now, as my first ever hardcore character in path of exile. It was the closest thing I could find to the RF/scorching ray mana guardian in terms of tankyness. Perma IC, 80% max resists, ability to reach 12k ehp with life and MoM, immunity to status ailments, enfeeble with cwdt, decoy totem, and I can even add fortify with shield charge, it really doesn't get much tankier than this, dmg is great too, and if we don't count the 40c poet's pens then it's cheap too, guess I'm gonna have to farm white maps for a little bit but I can buy everything for about 5-6 ex with a 5 link armour, that's decently cheap. The juggernauts that I found used double kaom's way rings, which cost 10 ex each right now, they also had only 75% resists (76% with 1% from tree) and <7k life, and they weren't even completely immune to physical damage. 50k armor might be a lot but it's not completely immune, much less tankier overall than that build, let's hope I don't rip before I get it completed. Necromancer and totem builds might be fine, but they rely on the minions/totems taking the damage, if I misposition and eat a big oneshot ability like shaper slam or beam then I'm gonna die, so I prefer solo facetank over relying on my minions/totems to soak damage

hierophant 4 totems glacial cascade or frostbolt. easy to play, cheap to make, clears a bit slower than others and is pretty low dps versus bosses. all in all it's safe as fuck and, because I have a reckless playstyle, it fits my needs.

Ya no you're right. 6% hp as fire damage.

High block will carry you the best on HC. Namely gladiator and the spell block.
Anything else may fail miserably in a split second if you don't pay attention, or unlucky. No matter the amount of damage mitigation and all.
In the state of present game balance, it's only damage avoidance which mostly matters.
