it did work this way in harbinger, it has always worked this way, we worked out ancient orbs worked this way very early on in harbinger when we started using them.

the wiki is wrong, ancient orbs have never worked the way it describes.

its not an exploit, its using a piece of currency to do what the currency has been programmed to do, a piece of currency that has existed for over half a year and has always worked the way its currently working.

The concept is hardly new - In Diablo 2 we also had to worry about character level impacting our crafting as well.

I do find a bit of humor in someone calling me dumb when even the insult is filled with spelling and grammar errors.

It never ceases to amaze me how these younger folk seem to believe that PoE is an entirely new concept and there wasn't a single game that may have inspired its creation or dynamics...

in poe chance orbs are one of the few orbs that ignores levels.

Say you want to craft a hat that has 99 life and three 45% resists, you need a base that is at least ilvl72 because thats the lowest item level required for a 45%. Thats extremely common knowledge, all it is, knowledge.

Now what is also fairly common knowledge, but slightly less so, is that if you want 99 life and three 45% resists then if you use an ilvl76 hat you are less likely to get 99 life and tree 45% resists than you are with an ilvl72, because an ilvl76 has higher tiers of accuracy and core stats that a 72 doesnt which water down the mod pool. So if you wanted to make that hat you would need ivl72+, and if you were a little smarter then you also would pick one below ilvl76.

No, you are playing the game, youre just playing it a little better than someone who doesnt realise that the higher ilvl item is actually worse for that craft.

Abyss jewels, u wanna craft a phys melee one? you want ilvl83 for the tier 1 mods right? But not ilvl84 because thats where the extra tiers of ele damage are added, which waters down the pool of mods you can roll from.

Maybe you craft 84 anyway and if you hit the t1 ele mods you just regal it and hope to land something you can sell to someone who wants that item but, for whatever reason, is trying to buy it rather than roll it themselves. The reason is not your concern, you are using your knowledge to generate an item using the tools provided, and then selling it for a price someone else is willing to pay for it.

Game knowledge, use it or lose.
