Can we just do away with fake dual wielding already?

Like why is it even still allowed? It's clearly an abuse of skill mechanics and has highly unintended consequences (i.e. making 2H absolutely worthless outside of rushing early game with RT).

Offhand stat-sticks aren't exclusive to PoE.

Offhand stat-sticks in other games are balanced around the presence of offhand stat-sticks. PoE is clearly not, because 2H is basically worthless when you compare it to dual wield.

Considering Blade Flurry was already the best single target skill in the game, and Reave for long stretches of time (pre-AoE nerfs) was the best melee clear in the game, I'm not really sure why it's ok for both to get almost triple the damage boost from a stat stick. Your build alone currently shows how dumb stat sticks are.

Instead of responding to arguments, just attack the person right? Nice job at proving my point.

So you're saying that it's ok to have super overpowered stat sticks in PoE just because they exist in other games? In other games stat sticks are balanced around the presence of other items in the game; 2H Crit/RT melee are all basically worthless because they are completely outclassed by stat sticks. You could put on a semi decent stat stick with a 260 pdps weapon and just crush the entire game.

Yes. Try it out sometime, it's pretty fun.

You KNOW dual wielding is OP compared to one and two hand builds. You KNOW the stat stick META takes DPS numbers for dual wield builds to a WHOLE new level. You KNOW that two hand builds can not compete with those numbers - especially if you want to survive anything. You KNOW one hand builds can't even get CLOSE to half of those numbers.

...But you still here, debating what exactly?

Fun versus balanced are two totally different things.

You can take a semi decent 300 pdps claw and make it do more damage than mirror tier 2h swords with a stat stick that isn't even close to perfect.

That's partially because you can use Blade Flurry with Claws/1H Swords, but also because the stat stick gives you the equivalent of 2 hatred auras for free with good rolls. Perfect rolls it's probably more.

I only play summoner because it's the only build I can afford, but I am curious to ask: What exactly makes dual-wielding OP? The only thing I can glean from this discussion so far is that the off-hand weapon is nothing more than a means to bolster your stats or something.

I don't mean to derail, I'd just like to get a little understanding on the subject.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Traditional dual wielding means you have to have two really good items; for the meta dual wielding your offhand is simply a stat stick that adds global modifiers that help you out such as crit multi.

This was fine when it came to things like Prismatic Eclipse/Death's Hand, which were very good but not so crazy overpowered that it was hilarious. When they introduced Shaper/Elder mods, you can roll multiple additional physical damage as element mods onto the stat stick, which basically equates to multiple free hatred auras. Considering you can also roll elemental pen on same stick, and use a Sambar Scepter also, you also get crazy ele pen when you start throwing things together like wise oak, penetration on tree, penetration on ascendancy tree, etc.

Not to mention the stat stick is used primarily on Sunder/Reave/Blade Flurry, and Blade Flurry was already the defacto single target skill in the game for end game bossing, Sunder is the best RT melee skill in the game by far, and Reave with enough DPS becomes the best melee clearing skill in the game (enough to where Reave can somewhat compete with offscreen range skills like Tornado/LA/KB since you have a better move skill than them with whirling blades). So these skills were already among the best in the game, they got basically triple the damage once Shaper mods got added.

Look at it. Smell it. Let it sink in. That's 3 mods acting like a Hatred Aura. 3. This is global, and boost a handful of melee skills that can utilize the off hand weapon as a stat stick.

I don't mind the power it gives. It's fun. I mind how useless it makes other builds that can't utilize off hand stat sticks.
