If the net neutrality repeal vote goes through
You can't even keep up with your own rhetoric. The world isn't ending. You and your ilk promised the internet would never be the same after NN was repealed. I'm reminding you of your lies every day. That is all.

" That's strange. You appear to know my rhetoric much better than I do. Can you tell me again what my rhetoric is, exactly? I appear to have forgotten. Keep in mind that my rhetoric is my rheoric, though. Do your best not to accuse me of lying because I don't agree with what someone else said, or, more likely, with what you irrationally and falsely believe someone else said. " See, I never claimed the world would end. I also never promised the internet would never be the same. Evil Republicans aren't likely to always stay in power,. Decent, rational human beings acting in the best interest of the people (at least sometimes) will once again implement regulations to prevent those predatory business practices. Businesses are almost certain to do things Net Neutrality would have prevented by the the time those people can reintroduce something similar to Net Neutrality again. Hell, they tried to do those things both before Net Neutrality was implemented and while Net Neutrality was in place. It's wholly irrational to believe they won't try them again now that the evil Republicans in power have given them free rein to do so. The nonsense you keep posting simply shows that you have an incredibly poor understanding of the repeal's consequences. Instead of spamming that ridiculous garbage, go read some articles on the subject. Educate yourself. The Republican cancer is, in every case I'm familiar with, strongly correlated with a terribly poor understanding of how the world works (along with a healthy dose of selfish assholishness, typically). Go learn something true. I'm not sure what your usual misinformation sources are, but you want to go with what the right now falsely calls "fake news" on this one. Real journalists will give you well-sourced facts. Those are what you need. Please take the time to go learn some true things so you can stop believing so many untrue things. |

" Long live VPN's. Living in Russia, the ISP's are shit and already throttle services like Steam and UDP connections. I get 50 kbps on Steam downloads during the day and this spill over into POE since both are linked to each other. VPN bypasses their bullshit. Pretty sure same will happen in the US. They can't control VPN's and they are only going to scamming people who are technically inept. | |
IceMatrix, Everybody in this comment chain believes they're correct about the things they're saying. You're singling me out because, for whatever reason, you disagree with what I'm saying. You're being irrational.
Instead of calling me a variety of names dismissively, what you should instead do is demonstrate how I'm incorrect about the things I've said. Your insults are empty and worthless. Literally nothing you said had merit or offered value. Saying "u smug" and "get over urself" will not make you look like the intelligent, reasonable person in a conversation, regardless of how you dress those statements up. Be better than that. " Have you ever self reflect. Look at your posts this thread alone. This is a difference between between, “ I believe my arguments, points are stronger” or even “ my points are correct “ Vs calling people stupid, dumb, shitty, evil, because they are not the same side of you on NN and politics. Civilized people can disagree with each other but still be respectful & rationalise just because they don‘t share same political view, does not make them evil, or suppprt evil, or too stupid. Something you may want to learn. Last edited by KiadawP#5072 on Dec 19, 2017, 8:50:32 AM

This is Day 5 without Net Neutrality. I will be posting in this thread every day until all the doom and gloom that the left promised would happen actually does happen. Remember, we were told our internet will now come in packages and we will have to pay every time we dl something or post on a forum. As of today that has not happened. So far they are liars. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

" I would say it is accurate that the majority of people with strong opinions on this thread believe they are correct. So let's start there. Is it not possible that those who disagree with you have simply reasoned incorrectly rather than ascribing their views to being evil? I single you out not for your view, but for the way in which you choose to demonstrate it. It isn't said in such a way as to help someone who misunderstands NN in your mind, it is said in such a way as to condemn those who disagree with you as evil people. It has no power to convince as it lacks humility in that you yourself do not enter into the discussion accepting the possibility that your position might be wrong. Instead not only are you right, but your opponents are morally bereft. And you must utter condemnations of them, instead of seeing them as perhaps people that might have flawed reasoning or even that it might be yourself that possesses such. It's part of being human. I try to enter into any discussion with the hope of learning something about either my own position becoming stronger or better understanding anothers position. I also accept that I am a potentially logically flawed human being that is just as capable of being wrong in my position as my political adversary. So I set out on a path of mutual discovery in conversation, that we both might become enlightened. I don't set out to argue and demean or belittle. Saying that you are smug in your tone is an accurate description of how you come across to a neutral observer. It's not an insult. You are precariously overconfident in how you come across. And I never said "get over urself". Just saying if you want to wield influence or help change minds, try approaching political arguments with a little more humility and seeing your political adversaries as human rather than evil beings. |

" I call Republicans evil not because I disagree with them, but because of the things I disagree with them on. This is the same as me calling murderers evil. It's not because of your incredibly reductive and absurd claim that "I disagree with them." If the difference between us was that they prefer purple and I prefer blue, or that they like sports and I like not sports, no fucks would be given on my side. If the difference was instead that we should ban people of certain nationalities or religions from entering the country, take away women's rights, take away regulations that protect people, increase wealth inequality while gutting social safety nets, fight for corporations' rights to pollute instead of fighting to rein in the issues accelerating climate change, disenfranchise voters of opposing poltical parties, and so, so much more, they yeah, I'm going to call those evil fucks evil. For fuck's sake, just look at what the Republicans are doing on any given day. They're pushing the least qualified people imaginable into positions of power across every level of government. All of Trump's appointees are wastes of humanity. They're trying to give lifetime judicial appointments to people who have zero experience or relevant qualifications. Barely failing to elect a child rapist? Par for the fucking course from the right. Again, I could keep going for ages, because Republicans are rotten to the core. [Factual negative statements about Republicans and conservatives I had here were removed by a moderator. Conservative mods, like other conservatives, hate facts.] I don't accept these facts simply because "they're different." I accept these facts because of what those differences are. I understand that individual right-wing cancer cells don't believe they're the bad guys. Their inability to accept reality doesn't change reality, though. Even the Nazis thought they were the good guys. Being delusional is, as far as I can tell, an absolute necessity to be on the right. Facts are anathema in places like r/T_D or r/conservative. They literally ban people who post facts. Last edited by Jennik#1783 on Dec 19, 2017, 2:00:38 PM

" The net neutrality repeal doesn't come into effect for like 6 months, and they won't initially repackage anything, because going too fast will cause even more uproar. Of course then nothing is happening right now. ISPs have done or attempted to do what pro-net neutrality people fear all over the world. A lot of this was countered by laws similar to net neutrality, some wasn't. Look at Russia. Sweden had an incident with Telia which provoked a similar law. And the whole reason it was put into place in the USA in 2015 was because ISPs had begun pushing against a more barred internet. Last edited by Skadrel#3812 on Dec 19, 2017, 12:55:41 PM

Jennik, I'm gonna need you to step it back there. I love me some good fiery rhetoric, my post history anywhere on the Internet is proof enough of that. But however right or wrong you may be, you're way over the line of even heated discussion. This thread is definitely above room temperature but we're not at Flame War yet and I'd like to keep it that way.
[Removed by Support] what we're afraid of is not Instant Dystopia Just Add Ajit Pai, but the fact that if Neutrality is destroyed there's no longer anything at all stopping everything from getting worse by degrees. Nobody thought the loss of Neutrality was going to gut the Internet over night. Everybody with sense thinks that the loss of Neutrality will gut the Internet over the next five years, IF that loss is codified into law and not just left to reversible FCC decisions.
