No, he wouldn't have. He might have thought it, but he'd never have asked it. Make your arguments all you want, but don't try to take a position of authority by falsely representing that authority.

Cites a logical fallacy and then uses his own logical fallacy in the same sentence. You're talking about the guy that publicly called compromising and putting in loot allocation his "biggest mistake" that he regrets the most. The guy who very vocally and publicly wants players "to die" a direct quote. If you want to disagree that he's got a very public and unapologetic hard core mindset go ahead I don't think anyone remotely informed on the subject would consider that a reasonable take but you're entitled to your opinion as am I.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

Absolutely you're entitled to your opinion, and if it's your opinion that the Chris of Old would have 'asked what tactics these cry babies tried' then your opinion is extremely difficult to argue effectively.

How could that statement possibly have been anything but an opinion? LOL.

As for arguing effectively:

If you want some tips on arguing effectively you could start by ditching this silly habit you have of looking for ad hominem attacks to pursue. Hand waving a point or an argument because of credentials is basically the opposite of an appeal to authority fallacy... you're trying to discredit the person who posted an argument in lue of arguing against the point. My Status as a player is completely irrelivant, I started playing yesterday, but I read everything chris wilson ever wrote by googling "manifesto" LOL.

So you know like when Fox news trys to meet Bill Nye's statements with "he's not a scientist"? That's what stupid people do when they're trying to convince even less intelligent people not to pay attention to a valid argument.

Now if you want to discuss the more recent stuff Chris has said, sure. There are some doozies in there. Some real head-scratchers that indicate to me he really doesn't know his own game sometimes.

He's said a lot of stuff; undoubtedly he's said some things that maybe he would rephrase given the chance. Like the TV meta I suspect given his later comments. Just like every other human being in the history of the species.

But there's also been this tendency to read into things that which people want to read because they have an entrenched position on the forum that doesn't gibe with the Lead Developers thoughts. And they resent that.

Example of some of the things I mean (talking GGG not just Chris because I can't remember EXACLTY who said what, because; also human) "15k ES" never mind that ES was clearly OP, people latched on to this high end number as though if only GGG could be "wrong" about 15k it would prove that no ES nerf was needed. This is a classic case of a group with an agenda seeking the weakest element of an argument to attack and ferociously going after a top end number as though it was objectively wrong. But it wasn't objectively wrong, it just wasn't the average. But the 9-11K ES that most people had, was ALSO too fucking much so never mind if they cited a top endian number.

People also read all sorts of dumb shit into his anti-AH "not going to make trade easier" statements, like he just must hate players, and all sorts of inane stupidity on reddit. Or "he doesn't know the exact stats on a Unique 3456 of eleventy thousand uniques? DOES CHRIS EVEN PATH OF EXILE BRO????!!!??? regarding his Baron comments.

Most of this amounts to "Daddy wont let me eat the whole cookie jar, why do you hate me daddy". Most players don't know whats good for their long term enjoyment, even the ones that cry the hardest and spend the most time on the forums making a new complaint thread EVERY TIME there's a mob they can't one shot.

This game needs MORE monsters that require a tactic or using more than 1 button... not LESS of them.

I find that hilarious since PoE evolved to a point where grouping was no longer mandatory. Thank god for that because the game is just not playable with more than 2 players worth of spell effects.

I remember GGG said this was one of their biggest original design ideas but I'm glad they were able to embrace the evolution of the game and the needs of it's growing and often times impatient player base.

Now I know I'm probably a noob compared to most of the people here (though I do my theorycrafting, unlike actually new players, not that that has anything to do with the topic), but my experience so far has been 5-7 rares at the end of the abyss, that just wouldn't die before.

Even with Frostbite (which is damn hard to hit because they disappear within a half second after hitting me for what feels like 1-2k) I can only get about 80-90% of their hp (in most cases) with a full detonation of 9-10 GC Mines in a 5L with conc effect (not inc aoe or some other non-damaging link). Then they disappear and reappear while healing themselves to 100% again.

I'm not using Frost Bomb (yet), but honestly, rares shouldn't require a 6L and full anti-res setup when map bosses are trivialised to 5-10 second fights and even Kitava was a breeze.

I'm really glad they fixed this somehow in 3.1.0c, but I'll see how it is when I get home.

By the way, I understand and even to some extent enjoy things like a Soul Eater getting 50-100 souls from an abyss (probably closer to 200, considering that I can proc my Vaal Discipline 3-5 times per abyss in some cases) and requiring me to get a new instance (happened in act 10, luckily didn't waste a map). Or that I die a couple of times to an abyss in a nemesis crit beyond map. But the bats were systematically annoying.

just keep hiting them until they are no more.

Just remember to NOT DIE (this is the crucial part) before you kill them, if you will follow this tactic you should be just fine
YES I support the game, NO I don't agree with many GGG decisions

Lab still sucks balls.

I miss Zana already.

Wipe the surroundings then slam it. I know, master tactician here, don't use PM to thanks me, doesnt want to be spammed.
Thanks everyone for your very specific skill combo to beat them - that sure helps all the different builds <<eye-roll>>.

The comments on basically ignoring them and clear trash really does work though.

I've managed to beat down most I have encountered, but I did run into a Soul Eater with Life Leech and Life Regen that was..........moronic? Ridiculous? I dunno. I had enough defense and health to just finish the abyss, loot everything and move out of agro range. Annoying may be the word....?

spawn-mortars (spawnapults)
These guys are the real culprits.

Well, the patch removed the pillbugs from the spirit binding bug that was making the bats so insanely fast & tough.
Now they just need to adjust the spawnapults themselves (how long they spit out pillbugs).

They should have a timer like totems. A minute or so and then they retreat back into the ground. That'll stop them sending pillbugs across the entire map - every 2 or 3 seconds - after you.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
