As far as your comment on phasing, I feel I didn't need it with shield charge. I have a queen of the forest raider wander with constant phasing and I know how nice it feels, but for this build I think shield charging through packs felt just fine. I think its preference really.

I'd add that you really need three safety flasks - Dousing, Heat, and Staunching. Dousing is really important especially if you get a "all enemy hits ignite" map.

Thanks for the fun build!

Indeed, it's a preference thing.

In 3.0 I didn't really have any problem with it, but ignite definitely seems to be more of an issue in 3.1, so yea, I'd try to get that on a flask or watcher's eye or somewhere. Another thing I did to help with ignite was get a bit more regen by dropping the 4 chaos nodes where vaal pact used to be and picking up the 4 DoT/regen nodes instead and then putting 1 pnt in zealot's oath.

Glad you liked it.
Currently level 50. At what level should I transition from freezing pulse to how this build was intended? Any gear that I should be getting? Thanks.

My current gear:

Level up to 65-70 or so doing blood aqueduct runs and then you can switch to the death aura build. For gear, just get stuff like I have in the gear section: death's oath, allelopathy, 250+es helm, 300+es shield, 150+es boots, Str/Int/ES/res rings, etc. Don't forget Int gives a lot of ES too, so some gear with a little lower ES but high Int can end up giving more ES. For cheap alternatives, you can get sin trek boots and heretic's veil helm, but then res will be hard to overcap unless you put on purity of elements, which is still fine if you want to do that.

The ondar's aren't doing anything for you, I'd switch them out for doedre, lochtonial, 2 soc tombfist with ele dmg/res/life abyss jewels, or just some res/life/es gloves. You can switch your weapons to heartbreaker and an ok crit/ele dmg to spells/spell dmg dagger at 50 also.

so i found a nice energy shield, however its corrupted and lacks the blue gem slot for vortex, is there a good alternative for vortex among the green gems?
You recommend dropping efficacy or conc for arcane surge if you have a death's oath that is 2R2B2G. What should the 2nd red socket be? Is it better to just run a 5 socket? Also, is there a lower level option for a breath of the council? Thanks

The second red socket is useless for Death's Oath. You can use whatever you think will help you (Warcry, Flame Golem).

I used Ephemeral Edge early in the league because high ES gear wasn't really available.

But if you want to go with damage instead I'd recommend The Dark Seer with 45% or more damage. It's a 1c item anyway.

If the shield is good enough and you can't just buy a better one for cheaper, then find someone with Vorici 8 to make the shield 3L and the colors you want it to be. Corrupted doesn't matter for Vorici 8.

Until then though-->
Vortex is optional. It depends on the other colors and links. If it is just a green by itself then you could do arctic armour, vaal grace, or purity of ice and then add a watchers eye with freeze immune with purity of ice up so you can drop freeze on a flask and put ignite immune instead. If the green has a red linked to it, then you could put vaal grace or phase run + increased duration. You could also just put a portal gem in it.
How do you combat the stuns?
The reason I designed a life based version(both standard and Abyss) of this build is because I was tired of always getting stunned with the ES version.
