[3.1] 9K ES CI Death Aura Occultist (updated for 3.1)

Noob question here, but how can you manage to have 2 curses + 2 auras at the same time?

Aura nodes on the skilltree often include "X% reduced mana reserved" which reduces mana reserved by auras. This build uses every aura node on the tree but one cluster.

We take the following clusters:

- Sovereignty
- Influence
- Charisma
- Leadership

Arcane Surge - Less Duration - Swift Affliction - Void Manipulation - Efficay - (6s Concentrated Effect)

The second red socket is basically useless for the death aura but there are still some options like a warcry, Flame Golem, Animate Guardian or a Portal Gem.
How would you level this build?

The leveling tree for the build picks up most of the spell crit/multi nodes and some spell damage, so you can level with whatever spell you want, as long as it's a spell that hits. Freezing pulse is good because it has threshold jewels to make it even better, abberath's hooves also if you can afford them. Or instead of going spell dmg/crit stuff, you could go straight for the chaos damage and use ED/Contagion. I never tried leveling with ed/contagion though, it always seemed like it would be slow to level with. The tree goes by the +1 totem node too, so you could go straight for that and just level with shockwave or frost bolt totems or something too. If you haven't tried poet's pen, you could level with those as well.
Fun build. Lvl 79 and blasting through T12 maps. Elder and the lightning elder guardian are a little annoying, but other than that no issues.

Couple things I did differently. Instead of Phase run I use a four link: Shield Charge-Faster Attacks-Fortify-Decay (I saw this somewhere but don't recall where. The shield charge hits with your large AOE on the packs applying decay which does quite a bit of extra damage. Plus for bosses I tend to find myself casting, charging to opposite side of boss (applying decay and fortify) every now and then.

I also dropped my golem. I'm running double lvl 3 englighten and I don't have enough mana to cast it (without dropping an aura and waiting for my regen). It was just too much of a hassle and I lacked the gem slots when running decay.

I'd also note a couple challenges with gearing is you need a LOT of strength to equip death's oath. I wouldn't even try this build on a death's oath that isn't +50 all attributes. I also pick up quite a bit of resists and str from jewels. Additionally if you reserve most of your mana (I think I have about 30 mana unreserved) you need to get at least ~70% mana regen (90%+ preferred) otherwise blight will struggle to cast.

Here is my gear:

P.S. In one of your trees you have a spreading rot in the left most jewel slot. Note that you don't actually have 40 intelligence around it.

There's enough int around the spreading rot jewel, it doesn't have to be allocated, just in radius.

For str, there is the +30 node you can take near Pain Attunement and CI. You lose a little es, but you could also get the +30 str node around where the ES/EV nodes are on the tree (where Vaal Pact used to be), just drop 2 es/ev nodes for the +10 and + 30 str nodes.

Shield charge + decay is interesting. I prefer the smoothness of just running around real fast and running right through things with phasing, but shield charge works too. I noticed you have no phasing at all though since you dropped quartz flask also. I would at least try to get phasing on kill from a jewel then. Phasing just feels so good on the build, in tight maps, and in Abyss in general since you don't get stuck on all the little monsters that come out. For mana problems, look into getting a watcher's eye jewel with the - mana cost with clarity on mod. If you get a -10 one, you can even do no regen maps easily also ^^, since blight only costs 10 mana on the build. Look into other watcher's eye jewels also. Grace is nice, but it's kinda optional really. You could swap it for some other aura + a decent watcher's eye mod for that aura.
Thanks.

I was using the 30 str node for a while, but I hate wasting points for it. Still, might be better off grabbing it and dmg jewels. I might pick up a -10 watcher's eye, but unfortunately I'm sitting at 24 unreserved mana (lvl 1 clarity costs 34 mana). That extra 10 unreserved mana means I'll have to get +333 mana or a level 4 enhance.
can i use this guide for a starter? can i run run with tabula rasa untill i collect for death oah?
