Grouping with summoners is absolutely ridiculous

Oh man... I love summoners. Can't get enough. If you don't like them, you must be retarded. Play a support class, you got full time meat shields... play a melee, you can pretty much just stand around and pick up loot.

Everyone should want to party with summoners.

But, I do take exception to the lagromancer people. Do you really think it's just the summoners, not the lightning arrow spammers or the frost witches... common.... get real.. you want the truth? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

nerf builds that i have problems with. everyone should just be required to use autoattack.

or not.

nerf-as-a-solution works often! it does!

I don't want to NERF the minions, I just don't want to SEE them or have them interfere with my gameplay.

The same goes for all of the other over-the-top disco spell effects and spam that flies across the screen.

Allow players to limit other people's "effects" ... so that the person who is casting/summoning/shooting can have it their way and others can still play the game without issues.

It's not about the nerf, it's about the ability to actually play in a group without having other people's spell effects/ minions / arrows / totems taking up 80% of your screen.

It's simple to understand, no?

Someone needs new hardware.
hmmm, his solution seemed to be nerf-nerf-nerf-fix graphical lag.

since "fix graphical lag" has been on the table for months, the only thing i really see here is "nerf nerf nerf", which is short-sighted, poor planning, and leads to cookie cutter FoTM nonsense.

buff other stuff. fix graphical lag. top systems have problems with particle effects atm. this isn't news.

so, if you have a poor computer, fix it. if you don't, well, this is beta.

problems during beta!?

encroyable!

i run a 512 mb integrated video card, play a summoner, and have few problems.

worst case for me is around 30ish fps, which for some folks is "completely unplayable", but hey, that's how it goes when your primary computer blows up.

life goes on.

The point of this thread was to provide a playable environment whilst partying with summoners so lets try to keep it on course :)

The suggestions to make summons ethereal is a great one (possibly with a slider mechanic so you could change how visible they should be).

In the same vein there should be an option to turn down the spell details, one for your spells and one for your party members, this will keep the 'epic feel' of blasting hordes of mobs while allowing you to not get blinded by the wall of ERMEGERDMYEYES produced by 6 people AoEing in all directions(because they can't actually see what's going on).

I'm sure there are many other solutions and tweeks, but these would be a start.

I agree with this post in its entirety. I don't particularly want summoners to get nerfed; don't get me wrong. No one likes getting nerfed. I simply want to be able to see what's going on in a fight when playing in groups. That's all. And as it stands, when playing with two or more summoners you cannot see what is going on. I like your idea about transparent minions. And your idea about adding an option to lower spell effect detail is a suggestion I have made a few times to GGG. Hopefully we see it soon.

People crying about summon minions takes me back to d2.
Is minic a gheibhean beal oscailt diog dunta!
GGG could lower the size of the summoned creatures and turn them into minis in groups, as well as lower the quality of the models.

Make minions much stronger, but make a hard cap of something like 3 or 4 minions per player.

Um.. how 'bout no?

I want my minion army to be large. Especially in single player. If you want tiny minion armies, Diablo 3 WD can only summon 3 dogs and 1 gaug, so you can play over there. Otherwise big minion armies are here to stay.
