Grouping with summoners is absolutely ridiculous
If you have an ok computer I've never had trouble with my summons slowing people down much but at lighting strike/arrow and frost arrow user however.....

I think I get it now. That part of the PoE community that is mature, down to earth, sensible, reasonable, friendly, generous, helpful. They're not the summoners. That much is clear.

People don't like to hear the word nerf X class. you will get a shitty attitude regardless. Make a thread, with Nerf Lighting Arrow, Lightning Spam and see how nice people are.
Edit: besides I tend to play my summoner when I don't want to group. its for people who want to solo but a different play style then being alone. Instead of "nerfing" summoners (As if were doing this a case by case number. I see more crit > Ice witches we should nerf them, and lightning arrow rangers are all the rave, they need to be nerfed too) we need a way to tone down summons with options for other players. Make them partially see through, low res, etc. IGN: Not_A_Farming_Necro, Dick_Von_Dyke, Fail_society, Tilt_o_Whirl Last edited by Failsociety#7220 on Feb 26, 2013, 11:40:02 PM

" Exactly. We summoners are just as defensive of our minions as casters are of their spells and rangers are of their arrows. No one likes nerfs. Melee doesnt have to defend itself, its already gimped and no one legitimately calls for nerfs on them anyway. I hate summoners too. They are lazy and rely on AI to do the work for them. Its the most unimpressive build type out there.

Half the fun in Diablo 2 was using your Necro to summoner 30 skeles / golums / zombies and spamming the shit out of them until eveyone in the pary had pc lockup and fps drops.
Ah, those were the days... Also, equally annoying which I've just played with recently is a reduced mana, faster casting, longer duration Firestorm player where the whole screen was filled with fireballs falling from the sky...literally could see nothing. It was hilarious to be honest. |

" Heh, please don't box us all in like that ;) I'm a level 80 summoner, and I've been kicked from parties plenty due to people getting lagged out by my minions, or many other reasons you yourself can probably think of on the spot. I don't believe that nerfing us is a solution, as i can promise you doing high level content, theres plenty of things that can whipe us and our army out in less then a second. I do however understand that It becomes hard to see whats going on when so many things are on the screen at once - This is an issue i personally have with a lot of options in PoE, like poison arrow or lightning arrow archers pretty much blinding me. A start of the solution could be simply being able to turn down spell effects, this would also remove the eye blinding auras around minions, perhaps another option is to differentiate minion colors more from that of normal mobs so It's easier to see Whats what. Having a large army is a blast, I personally was very disappointed in how limited the summoner in Diablo 3 felt and would be very dissapointed in PoE as well where they to nerf the minion cap. If a proper discussion is an option, I'm sure we can find a place where we ( the summoners ) and you, the people playing with us will both be satisfied. |

Maybe a graphics setting, let's call it "Other Players' Minion Count". Give it a sliding bar, from 1 minion, to all minions. I wouldn't let it go under 1, as I think it's important to be able to see the summoner is doing SOMETHING, and not just standing around.

Wait. Let me get this right. You dont like grouping with summoners because you can not see the screen so your solution is to nerf them? What kind of fucked up mentality is that?
By the way, no, I do not play a summoner. The summoners I have seen have been cool people and I hardly feel that "most" people are playing them. Infact I would argue more people play streamers "OP build of the month". The 4 most popular builds that I have noticed is wander, freezpulse, LA, and EK. I run into probalby 10 of each of thoes per 1 summoner. I would say even groundslam builds are more popular than summoners. Edit: I was debating on what to roll next. After seeing this post I think summoner may be it just to see who I can rage into making dumb posts like this. "I cant see the screen nerf summoners". Just wow. " Maybe just have an outline of the minions? or make them all spectral like the ghost pirate spectres in the ship graveyard? and just make it easier to actually aim at an enemiy with interference from them generally. |
