Fake pricing epidemy on POE.trade to abuse sellers on purpose

Hello !

Latelly, POE.trade has been plagued with fakes prices on most of the popular items.

How it works :

People put 1 or more items at a very low price. they will NOT sell them under any circumstances. The purpose of this mechanic is pretty obvious : abuse unexperienced players making them think this is the right price for their items, then you buy those items and resell it the real price = huge profits.

How to know this is a fakes sale

Those items are usually on sale for a very long time, and the guy selling them will never ever respond. the prices are usually lower than 1/2 of the price proposed by the majority of sellers.

there are plenty of exemples : reliquary keys at 1 chaos, 70+ ilevel breach leaguestones at 1 alteration etc...

this is done ON PURPOSE.

In some case, some player might want to sell something dirtcheap to sell it fast, when thats the case, the item does not stay on the market for weeks so those cases can been easily sorted out.

Why should we bother ?

this problem hurt absolutely every players that buy and sell items : if you are aware of those fakes, you will loose some time to actually scroll down until you find the real prices. sometimes, you might actually check too fast and you'll undresale your item.

unexperienced players are hurt the most, they don't know how to make a lot of currency and will get abused on POE.trade on top of that.

this behaviour seems to be expanding these days, POE.trade might actually get flooded with these items in the futur.

Solutions

Punish those players ! they do this on purpose, they try to abuse you ! this is a bad behaviour that has a negative impact on the trade community.

they should be informed that their behaviour is not acceptable and punished (a few days ban ?) if they keep on doing it.

double check every single item you sell or buy on poe.ninja

Interesting. Maybe you could convince the trade site to include a time stamp as to when the item was listed.

That will at least make players who try to do this have to micro-manage more, and will allow observant players to know what listings are fake.

there is already a time stamp...

conspiracy everywhere son
In law, its fraud - a deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain. You are deceiving people listing items so low with no intention of selling to gain a noobs item who see your fake listing, match it, for super cheap. I can't believe GGG doesn't do anything. This is no better than botting.

OFC an AH eliminates this because once seller lists low the item is out of their hands and they have no choice but to sell it. So this type of price fixing stops immediately because no one in the know will let their items go for nothing.

You can't punish players. Witch hunts and honest mistake will arise not to mention man hours which is money investigating each case. All you need to do is take item out of seller hands like a real AH does so they have no choice but to sell thier deceptive low ball listing. Would end it overnight.

In meantime just play SSF if you don't want to be exposed to all the scams going on out there. This is just one type. There are many more this unregulated market allows for. This is why places like Stock exchange has millions of rules. There are no rules in Wearclast. Either deal with it or pull your self out of system. Complain seems to not do anything.
Git R Dun!

How about the auction house advocates? I visited, and I am one, so we can wait for others of that category to show up too. ;-)

Don't fall for the bullshit, I sold one for 67 yesterday in like 2 minutes. Even if the 64s are real I guarantee they'll be sniped before any of us ever PM the guy :/
