Reliquary key is too rare

good luck finding something decent in this league 3:)

IGN: Bluntexile
Keys are relatively rare to the amount of time you have to spend to acquire them only to get RNG'd out of a decent item. It would be one thing if all you got was op items, but that's not even close to the case.
It was only a matter of time before the "X" is too rare QQ'ing from the casual peanut gallery.
U MAD?
I have not found any keys yet (lvl 71 & lvl 50). But I've found 2 exa already. RNG is RNG.
When night falls
She cloaks the world
In impenetrable darkness
The rarity is fine.

Some of the items that are available through the Reliquary are insane, and the items made available were changed or removed because of how over the top they are: Eternal Orbs; Item Quantity Support; and legacy Vessel of Vinktar.

Even the very small chance to obtain any of the above items justifies Ancient Reliquary Keys having a very low drop rate. Those items literally change the entire face of the game. The fact that they are available in a temporary league again is a total game changer.

On top of that there are a number of build enabling legacy items that do a much better job of enabling their builds in their legacy forms. The standard version of these items sort of works for their intended purpose now, but not really, and so those builds using the items have effectively died out, or become far more niche. These items include: Reach of the Council; Windripper; Bringer of Rain; Wings of Entropy; Cloak of Defiance; and Chill of Corruption.

I haven't seen anyone's Mjölner yet, but getting back the "50% chance to Cast" version would certainly be in that category. I don't even know if it would function correctly, if the trigger changes were made universally? I don't think they have been, because CWDT still casts all spells, but you never know...

Then you get the prestige items. This class of item is still good enough to use, but the legacy version is just an OP version of what people use now: Shavronne's Wrappings; Facebreaker; Kaom's Heart; Lightning Coil; Maligaro's Virtuosity; Meginord's Girdle; Soul Taker; Shavronne's Revelation; Saffel's Frame; Rumi's Concoction; Taste of Hate; Aegis Aurora; the Anvil; Blood Dance; Soul Taker; and Goldwyrm.

There may be other items that you would want from the Reliquary, but those are what I am keeping my eye on.

I will admit that all of the above items are buried under the heaps of more common items that have had changes made over time, and some of those items are just worse versions of what we still have in the game. I would guess that 85% of people's relics will be useless or even annoying. But the other 15% will range from good to godly. And to have the chance to obtain anything on the above lists justifies a very low drop rate.

We are less than three full days into this league. Why is everyone acting like they need their legacy Vinktar's and Eternal Orbs already? The fact that there are ANY on a temporary league, within the first two days, beggars belief.

Give it some patience and put in some time. I'm a little tired of the instant gratification crowd that seems to have a loud voice in this game.

It is not about the reward, it is about the experience of getting to the box, getting excited and even getting rekt by a cybils, really. If the items in there already have their own weighting what is the point of making that experience so rare?

I usually put between 200 to 300 hours each league but if I already put 24 hours and haven't experienced the only feature that is relatively new (encountering the dam box) then I think the drop rates do have a problem. I don't think trading should be necessary to get a sniff at the content.

For me, ideally you should be able to find one or two of these during progression and then get encouraged to trade if you really want to take the good stuff out of the box but with the numbers right now you pretty much have to trade just to experience it and I think this is wrong.

If thr relic drops are weighted there is no reason why the drop rate on the keys themselves should be so low
Honestly would it be better if you drop a shitton of them just to get legacy Kaoms Primacy every time?

And they are not too heavily weighted. Things like Cloak of Defiance and Aegis seem pretty common.

If that was the case, these threads would just be complaining about the fact that all the reliquaries drop in garbage. Some folks will never accept the RNG for what it is.

No. The combination of the drop rate for keys, and the weighting of the rare items, together, is what will (hopefully) keep Eternal Orbs and instant leech Vinktar's from flooding the game. Let's assume for the moment that GGG got it just right, and the perfect amount of godly items will be entering Legacy League.

If they kept the item weighting the way it is now and changed the key drop rate so that the keys were 100 times as common, then we would have 100 times more godly items in the game, making everything too easy for everyone and ruining everything.

So any adjustment to key drop rate will have to have a proportional adjustment to the chance of getting any of the good items. Keys 100 times as likely to drop? Eternal Orb 100 times less likely to show up when you get there.

I think we can all agree that this would devalue the entire experience. It would be a commonplace transaction that you check into every day: "Ho hum. Got my garbage item again."

The one thing that GGG can do, I think, is what they did with Breach: collectible fragments. I'm surprised they didn't learn a good lesson with the Breach system. Make fragments of keys drop 100 times as often as keys do now, but you need 100 of the to form a key. Now you will get some fragments most times you play, and have a visible progress indicator to your key and your Reliquary chest. It still feels special when you get there, because it took a while to get it, and you still have the better (admittedly still probably not great) chance of getting a godly item when you do.
