Scott Adams is a genius. Earlier today I noticed the subtitle of his new book was "Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don't Matter" and I thought to myself what possible need could I have for that? Mere hours later and I'm coveting whatever tips he has to offer.

Sent in the Army (82nd Airborne maybe) with more food, water, fuel and equipment to clear roads.

Sent in the Hospital ship immediately
Sent in the Navy to evacuate people
Followed up with the Army Corps of Engineers to rebuild roads and bridges

The US military is the best logistical supply organization in the world. They were on top of things in Houston. They can supply an army anywhere in the world on a few days notice. PR isn't even half way around the world; it is a couple hundred miles away. Our military is used to dealing with major crisis areas and emergencies. Mayors are not.

Everyone knew that PR would be hit hard. They knew it days in advance. Trump played golf.

Are you implying all of this didn't happen? Because the army has been on PR since at least the 25th of September. A general has been appointed on Thursday, so before Trump went golfing. One can argue whether Trump acted maybe two days too late. One can't argue whether Trump helped at all. One definitely can't argue that Trump didn't help because he golfed.

Read the small stories from the people that live there now, or used to live there. Read up on how the destruction of their radars has hindered efforts to use numerous small aircraft to transport supplies. Read up on how truck drivers are still on strike during this and exacerbating the problem.

If Puerto Rico had the infrastructure of a state, this would be a much simpler job. They don't for political and economic reasons that aren't germane to finding a solution at this moment in time.

If this mayor was so outstanding, why did she skip two meetings with FEMA who was trying to coordinate the response with her?

The initial response in federal emergency personnel to Florida's disaster was around 11,000.
The initial response in federal emergency personnel to Puerto Rico's disaster was around 12,000.


This is a logistics problem, not a problem of supplies/people sent or effort made.

The logistical problems potentially faced by Puerto Rico by hurricanes were pointed out well before this even hit - before Irma hit Florida, and when Harvey was still on its way. They were no more unpredictable than the effects flooding would have in Louisiana due to its negligence of storm drainage infrastructure, despite heavy funding for it.

Trump doesn't feel that Puerto Rico are "his people". They voted Rubio instead of him, so he's getting back at them for it. That's always been his modus operandi.

The bolded is pure TDS. The rest is simply not true, PR had trucks, drivers and fuel. The drivers didn't show up to work though. I bet that's Trump's fault somehow.
