That's wishful thinking. The only way I see them losing in the future is because they are divided(Bernie and his revolution), not because they messed up.
People keep saying that Hillary was one of the worst candidates ever, widely unpopular, and there is some truth in regards to that, and yet, she still got 3 million more votes than Trump.
So, do you really think that if they put another candidate against Trump he is still sure to win?
One more thing to take notice is that this last election there were several claims that Hillary didn't win because of misogyny, so I think that if you put another woman against Trump there will be lots of people that will vote for her just to prove that it wasn't because misogyny, but because it was Hillary.

But I think that one more thing to take in consideration is: will Trump really want to be president for 8 years? I don't think he liked those first 100 days... so I wouldn't be surprised if he found a way out of it...
