Someone earlier posted some questions that were removed for being deemed as offensive and he/she alerted me via a personal message. I am nevertheless incredibly open to this and would like to share my feedback for him publicly, without identifying him. "I am not offended at all. In fact I warmly welcome an curiosity and questioning. I feel that you are another one of the majority who misunderstood the transgender issue all in all. I have sought psychological help and I was concluded with gender dysphoria. That means that treatment in my case can only be to make my sexual appearance match gender identity as much as possible. Yes, you are right in that nothing I do can make me fully female, just the same as nothing a person who survived whole body third degree burn can do to look pretty again. Gender dysphoria is not about just wanting to be the opposite sex. It is an intense and hard to describe sensation that causes us to be extremely aware of our mismatching gender identity. If this sensation can be get rid of at all, I lust for the cure. Every transgender person says 'I hate to be born as transgender!' However, no such cure exists and we are down to this. There has not been any recorded case of 'gender dysphoria being suppressed'. We transgenders communicate among ourselves all the time. Not just those in the age group of 60s, but any transperson will answer you 'I regret not having transitioned younger' Yes. That is the sad truth about gender dysphoria. The younger you seek hormone replacement therapy, the better it works. For those who accepted HRT as early as 10, the feeling of dysphoria is almost completely avoided. For those above 30s....well, that is why suicides occur. I think what you are confusing with is drag culture. Gender dysphoria is completely separate from drag culture where men dress up as women in a sexual manner. That kind of behavior is purely erotic and has often misrepresented us transgenders. In fact we consider them enemies to some extent. A drag person who pretends to have gender dysphoria and mingles with us transgenders is called a 'spy' and currently there is no technology to expose them as we do not even have the technology to identify gender dysphoria anyway! Gender dysphoria is something that is really understood only by someone suffering from it..." |
