Map diversity sucks hard without trading
" First the Scion gets a terrible makeover, then Zana. I don't know what's going on with GGG ruining lines and making characters worse. I used to exclusively talk to Zana in my hideout. I tried with the new one, but switched to Haku after a day because she's so damn annoying. |

This really needs to be fixed by 3.0. There's still plenty of time, but it goes quick. If you're not already working on this problem, start now, GGG.

Still creeping closer to the next league. Still need this fixed.

There's nothing TO fix. Play the game the way they intend for it to be played, or don't... But don't act like there is a problem that you haven't created for yourself by imposing rules on your play-style that the game is not balanced for.
U MAD?

This is an old thread about an issue that still exists and is still awful for self found players. I played a lot this league, but I didn't bother with red maps because the grind to unlock them is so insanely awful. Unless a player is specifically tailoring their Atlas to do something like only run shaped Strand, unlocking maps feels terrible. It doesn't feel great even just getting to the point of only running shaped Strands either, but the grind is orders of magnitude less.
Please finally do something about this, GGG. Not being to access content due to this ridiculous extra grind you added with the Atlas makes the game so much worse. I haven't run a map over tier 12 or so since the Atlas came out. That's not because I don't want to. I just don't want to grind the same damn map potentially dozens of times until the last tier 13 I need before I can start unlocking them finally drops. " This. Plus it isn't impossible at all, I believe that you increase your chance if you drops enough different maps ( from different sides ) of the same tiers, then getting the completion atlas all at once after you've dropped them. Unlocking red maps isn't "insanely awful". And there is uber lab on top of that, that can give you red maps. I'm at 114 completion bonus SSF, for the very last ones .... there is still the recipe. And I haven't had Cloister/Vinktar/Manor and haven't completed HoG ... so only 7 non unique maps non unlocked ( including Vaal temple ). And I'm definitely not the most efficient. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. Last edited by Fruz#6137 on Jul 1, 2017, 8:54:57 PM

Atlas sucks if you self find your maps and don't shape it.
It's amazing and awesome if you trade and shape. I think GGG should do something about it but my previous suggestions on the topic would break shaping so they're bad. Maybe something like one of these: * Zana sells one of every locked non unique map at all times. This would give the same map availability as PoE.trade to self found players but at higher prices. * High chance or guaranteed drop of a locked connected map when you unlock a map. This would be more in love with PoE's current gameplay but would significantly damage the map economy because fewer people would buy for unlocks anymore. I don't really care about this though. Buying and selling maps is as about as buying and selling gems used to be. |

There are tons of options to fix the Atlas. My preferred fix:
Every single map on the Atlas starts unlocked so that it can drop. You can complete a map as usual to get the bonus. Maps can be right-clicked at any time to disable them so that they don't drop and don't give you the bonus. Disabled maps can be enabled the same way. Now you can shape and reshape the Atlas without jumping through a ton of hoops. You can also not shape the Atlas without jumping through thousands of additional hoops. This painful, unnecessary grind they added with the Atlas would be gone. None of the positive aspects of the Atlas would be lost. Mapping would be so much better like this for people who just want to play the game's content without a terrible, unnecessary grind or trade wall. |

POE is definitely "Trade to win". There is no way to complete all of the challenges in leagues without trading.
