64bit client crashing on startup

Windowed screen works. Fullscreen windowed or fullscreen don't.

My specs

2560x1440
Win 8.1 Pro
16 GB DDR4
Skylake i5 - 6600k @ 4.4 Ghz
Asus Geforce 970GTX 4GB TI Strix

Looks cool tho. Can't wait to get back from work and test with some ground s**t in maps. :)

Same error popup (workaround working see EDIT 2):

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Intel i7-4770
16 GB RAM
nvidia GTX 1070 (driver version 375.86)

64-bit versions of Elite Dangerous works ...
DX 11 versions of Civ work ...

P.S. Release a version with logging enabled (or available as a command line option) and we'll run it and upload or email you the results ...

EDIT: Installed to non-standard folder (on my F: drive) if that might matter ... unlikely since its a DX11 thing ... so another factor might be that I had Visual Studio 2015 and the Windows SDK but I had to remove them when update 3 created some compatibility issue while trying to update the Windows SDK) ... also not likely relevant ... but ...

EDIT 2: Running the 32 bit / DirectX 9 client and switching to Windowed Fullscreen instead of Windowed, then going back to running the 64 bit / DirectX 11 client (as administrator) fixed my issues.

NOTES:
I already had this installed: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805
I'm running the direct (non-steam) version.

Same error (Failed to create the device wrapper, citing line 498).

Temporary workaround:

Start DX9 client.
Switch to Windowed Fullscreen.
Apply settings and exit.
Start DX11 client.
Switch to Fullscreen.
Apply settings and play.

I'm able to play and even have some SLI scaling using bits 0x080020F1.

Proof.

Alt-tabbing and exiting works fine but I have to repeat the above process every time I want to use the DX11 client in Fullscreen.

32GB DDR3
GTX 980 4GB SLI x2 (on 375.63)

2nd part of the log screen is related to crash from the black screen when using 32bit version.

/edit:
Turning window-fulscreen instead of fulscreen mode seems to be working, I mean there is no crash when starting 64bit and leaving game (at 32bit) resulting no black screen. But, until GGG turn-off rendering at windowed-fulscreen mode, I will play at full-fullscreen (when alt-tabing my CPU and GPU are idle, not working their sweat to maximum). So, in fact problem is still there.

For me when i try launch game in 64bit ( i play on steam ) i got instant crush.
But when i launch it from game folder using PathOfExile_x64Steam and as a admin game works just fine.

right clicking and running PathOfExile_x64Steam directly instead of launching through steam also worked for me!

I get the same error when using the 64bit client (not the Steam one).

This fix worked for me (playing in windowed)
