Suggestion: More skill gem sinks - Gemcutter's shard?

3 minutes X 2 gems = 1 gcp every 90 minutes.
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

I would call that poor man's way. Average player can get few times more in that time while doing maps.

Bots, bro. Bots.
How bout making it so the gem has to be a certain level before it's vendorable?

It doesn't matter how you acquire gems, you have to play and level them. Level 1-5(?) gems don't give squat, and then it goes exponentially from there.

That's an interesting way of thinking, we are talking about gem sink. So how many level 5 gems you have in your stash just waiting to be sunk?

No thanks. What would happen? People would make like 10000000 characters. Equip the gems with their high lvl characters, kill 10 mobs = lvl 5 gem... huraaaaay, infinite GCP's and welcome "gold"-farmers who make GCP's all day and night long...

No, gems that have been aquired through quests shouldn't be changeable.
1 gem of each type giving you a chromatic instead would work

That's the whole point, to be a nice reward but deserving of effort. Also mostly to make it non abusable.

I think you are underestimating the amount of time it takes to level gems. Also the 5 was a random number, can be more if you feel 5 is too easy to reach.

The thing is, if you look purely at gem drops, it is always faster to make new characters, kill Hillock, and pocket in the 2 gems.
I also don't think it is technically possible to differentiate quest rewards from drops at this point of the game. If they had to introduce such a feature, it would have to be done just after a total character wipe.

So we either hope they actually introduced the feature with Open Beta, and then they can do something that would work with level 1, non-quest reward gems, or we think of other ways to create a gem sink.

Underestimate? Dude, toda I leveled a firestorm from lvl 1 to 3 in just 1 minute... The first enemy gave me an instant level up. And I'm just a lvl 44 witch. Now what would happen if someone uses lvl 1 skills in lvl 70+ areas? Yes, 10 enemies = instant lvl 5.

What's your problem with implementing a feature, that gems from quest rewards can't be used to make it to an Gemcutter shard? I still think that's the best option to avoid an exploit. And other people don't have to level their found gems to make them to Gemcutter Shards. A much better sulotion. ;)
How about this: Ten level ten gems gives you a random gem, but it doesn't work with quest reward gems.
