How would you nerf [Reach Of The Council] but still keep it Viable?

The whole point of why people are bitching about the bow is because it does too much damage. in point of fact the ONLY thing we should be touching is its damage.


giving it gmp introduces mana problems and limits it to 5 projectiles on a weapon that is novel because of its potential to have 9 projectiles .

just drop it to sub 300 dps and call its a bloody day. it tops out at 365 dps right now dropping it to say 285 dps will keep it in the viable zone without destroying its unique character
Hmmm... [Removed by Support] who added it in at the last minute before the new league start date and not having enough time to properly test and balance it. Prophecy temp league was a train wreck of a release with server/client communication timing problems that caused massive latency spikes (totally unplayable for me until patch 2.3.1) and the audio bug. GGG really put themselves in between a rock and a hard place with their self imposed 3 month new league publishing deadlines and not having had Prophecy adequately tested and debugged.

that was a 3rd trainwreck in a row.. 3month production cycle is only in the name. it is 4month cycle with 1m public beta test

and yes the balance done last minute is just as good as any other last minute sweeping change - pretty terrible. coupled with entitled populace it leads to quite toxic situations..
The thing with this bow isn't so much that it is so incredible powerful. It isn't.

Just look at Atziris Disfavour and compare it to a rare axe. Just look at Voidheart.

The thing with Reach is that it is an incredible item, that actually fits the meta right now and has propably a too high avaibility. Maybe they should introduce Ubercouncil and make it drop there :P

If the avaibility of reach would be on Disfavour level and ranged wouldn't be so far superior, nobody would care about that bow. Or they would care more about the power level of Disfavour being too high as well.

If damage should be changed make the bow slower. Maybe give it the Marohi Threatment. Turn the attack speed into negative or just remove it. I assume it takes some more time to load 5 Arrows into that thing.

9 Projectiles isn't really novell :P You can make a +1 Reach, with a +1 Quiver, use 22 Splitarrow, GMP and LMP to get to 19 Arrows per Shot, but 9 was possible before, however reach allows for it without being ridicolous, since you need neither a corruption, nor a secondary support.

So what could be done is switching base class of the bow to Imperial (like Lioneyes), giving it 10% reduced attack speed. This would reduce base crit and attack speed and likely make it more fitting for a bow that rains arrows. Also you could in return close the gap on the damage rolls a bit.

Another thing I noticed is that the quality of a weapon or armor depends a lot on how damage is given to the item. Having a high percentage role is a lot worse than having a high flat damage. That is due to Quality not giving more but increased damage. If you have a Weapon that has 300% increased physical damage, 20% Quality is only a 5% increase in damage. While a weapon getting x-y flat physical damage gets the full 20% Quality as more damage. If you compare both weapons Reach only offers 6 dps more then Lioneyes... however once you apply quality reach greatly outperforms Lioneyes because it has less of its damage packed into %increased physical damage. So even for Blast Rain Reach outperforms Lioneyes, which shouldn't be the case.
oh lord why is it so hard to just reduce its damage by a set amount. why must it always be no we must add this implicit support that does the 1 thing we want but then 3 other things we dont want or no lets changed the weapon base even though the difference between weapon bases are totally the same things you would change with added stats...

also why shouldn’t reach outperform lioneyes? lioneye's is not supposed to be a top tier bow . this is like complaining that atziri's disfavor is a better earthquake weapon than morohi erqi. of course it is suppose to be better than lioneye's its got several layers of rng gating

lioneye's you can find on a casual stroll through maps. you have to target farm reach. and in a month we probably wont even be able to get reach in its current form anyway.

People who keep saying the weapon isn't powerful are simply ignorant of math.


It is literally a 450 pdps Harbinger. Please tell me a 450 pdps Harbinger isn't simply idiotically strong? A 450 pdps Harbinger outclears and out dps's a Disfavor easily. When you add in enchants and things like Ascendancy classes, it becomes even more heavily infavored of the Harbinger. And do mind you, the ROTC shoots faster and you can vaal it to +1 arrows if you're that baller.

GGG will never nerf reach of the council because it will be league exclusive outside of zana and everything they do is 100% to make Vhlad the standard player suffer, which means no prophecy added to core game.

So maybe when it goes to standard and the price rises to 50ex, and I save up 49ex, Chris Wilson will nerf the new drops from zana and the current reach will become legacy. Then the price will rise to 200ex.

Then after Vhlad saves 200ex and buys one, within 2 days Chris Wilson will retroactively nerf all of them consuming dark style.

And then, when depression is maximum, GGG will release a better league only bow in the next temp league and/or nerf all bow skills incinerate style.
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.
RotC costs 22ex in Standard right now. if you are standard only player then you should be able to spend this kind of money on a mirror-level (yes, really) weapon

if you do not have 22ex to spend then you wont ever be able to get this item - no matter what happens
WTF for? Everything is OP now. In fact i'd seriously consider unnerfing some ols nerfs to keep up...like Mojlnirs... like CoD...

hahahaaaaa if you chase trailing end thats what you get. either a) buy and play on price/performance...i have news a 5ex toon is 95% performance of a 300ex toon or b) dont worry about it.

At about 16 I was no longer was susceptible to peer pressure. Check yourself.

I want that bow as much as a hole in the head. Much rather make something work never been worked b4.
