I suck
I was on my way to level 95, at 92%, and made the mistake to take my eyes off the game for 10 seconds with my ultra-tanky Righteous Fire build when entering a room. Needless to say my character died and got the 10% XP penalty.
That's a whole week's worth of XP lost. Yes, I suck. But a whole week of experience? That's a shitty mechanic design. Wake up, GGG and work on that crap. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

Why are you playing past level 90.

" People that suck can get 100. It's not a challenge, rather a boring grind. In fact the current to-100 balance actively discourages challenge-seeking behavior. Skip hard map mods, skip certain bosses, grind yellow tier, and play a build that doesn't die (especially one that doesn't die with user error/ inattentiveness / disconnect). It's not hard. There are a few builds that do this (I call them sandwich builds, because you can eat a sandwich /watch a movie while playing). Most players just find these builds really fucking boring to play (because they are), and the incentive to suffer through the grind is minimal because the reward/time is abysmal. Anyone who says getting to 100 is a challenge has very low standards for skillful gameplay. It's just a build/behavior check, and a test of patience. I'd much rather have consistently more challenging gameplay with a lenient death penalty than boring easy-mode with a 8+ hour progression penalty on death. Analogy: Getting to 100 in PoE is like being a Costco greeter. Just because I wouldn't do that job, doesn't make it challenging. Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client. Last edited by Vhlad#6794 on Jul 10, 2016, 10:43:11 AM

100 should be something that eventually happens to you if you enjoy playing. It shouldn't be your only goal for a character. If you can't find something fun to do that will get you experience towards 100, it's time to re-roll.
If it's taking you a week to get 10% of level 95 it's going to take you about 10 years to get to 100. Do us all a favor and either quit this character or quit lying about it. Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Jul 10, 2016, 11:00:23 AM

" Interesting. Do you consider yourself a hypocrite? If something is a test, it would be a challenge, yes? If something takes time and effort, it is a challenge, yes? Getting to 100 is a challenge. Anyone who says otherwise has problems. The fact that so few people do actually have level 100 characters proves it. I'm not talking about standard either. Standard has been around since forever and there are plenty of legacy items and other expensive items that a select few can use to get a bunch of level 100s. I've been playing since August 2013 and my highest five are 87, 79, 77, 74, and 69. No party play, because this isn't a party game. No serious maps because I've yet to get a build going smoothly. I try one thing and it doesn't end up working as well as I would like, so I spend my time trying to farm currency to fix it. It's more sad that progression can be so slow rather than losing it. |
