Name the first video game that got you into video game as a kid

Anno 1602 and after that mayb Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun.

That Anno thing may be typical german/austrian. Lots of people played it there.
Oh, another anno player! Yep, I might be one of the few in America that played it. But 1503 was better. :)

But to answer the original question: there is no ONE game for me.
Censored.

I've always said Legend of Zelda is the video game that has changed the video industry the most.

1. First game that you could actually save, every game that was made before had no save and load concept and would be completed in one sitting.

2. The first real open world and non-linear game. Video games before were linear and only linear. This game as brought an entirely new genre, perspective and approach to the medium and how to exploit it.
As a kid, Space Invaders on some early 80ish PC with black&green monitor. Few years later got my hands on C-64.

I guess technically it would be Super Mario 64 since that was the first game I had, but it was really some combo of 007 Goldeneye, Turok, and the first Quake that did it. Played those to death and still play Quake from time to time.

Yep, gaming escalated quickly for me...Mario, then the blood and carnage of FPS's for most of the rest of it.

first game ever (some boat simulation) was on a schneider CPC (8 bit os running on a z80 cpu), later i bought a comodore64 and played turrican, last ninja, giana sisters, tetris ...

i skipped the amiga times and went straight to my first pc, a dx386.

fun times, did you know monkey island does exist in new zealand?. i nearly drove off the road seeing the sign because there are no monkeys in nz so it clearly has to be game related....
