Name the first video game that got you into video game as a kid
|
The very first game I remember playing is Fury3, followed by its sequel, Hellbender. I got my dad to phone up Microsoft asking if they made toys of it, and was disappointed to find out they didn't.
The most vivid memory I have of my first year of primary school was telling my Year 1 class about Hellbender and being asked "what do you do in it? Bend the heck out of hell?" by my teacher. I'm not sure if I understood what hell even was at this point. I don't really have much in terms of memories before I got into games, so it's impossible to say which the first one that really made me fall in love with them was. Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight is a solid contender (I have more of an attachment to Star Wars games than films to this day), and I definitely remember being blown away by the original Unreal. I was also trying to make levels and my first mods as early as Age of Empires, and Red Alert 2 respectively. Gameplay & Level Design

![]() 1987(6?) I was 6 or 7 at the time. Playing the game was all I needed to be hooked. Now I'm in the game industry and will never look back. MonstaMunch: "You're just jelly because you can't afford to mirror my rod. It's 100% reel." GooberM: "How does that not warrant a good ol' stabby-stabby?" My family had an old Pong console and then we got an Atari 2600 around 1978 or so when I was really young. Games were mostly crap and boring, especially with an arcade down the street.
I lived through the Pac-Man craze but was never very good at it. The original arcade Donkey Kong in 1981 was the first video game I really liked. But playing the crappy 2600 version when I ran out of quarters was worse than being grounded without dessert. >_< The first video game that really turned me into a "gamer" was Dungeons of Daggorath for the TRS-80. First RPG I ever played and the first video game that really pulled me into another world...and I spent days, weeks and then months playing it. It was and still is an unforgiving nightmare of a game which took me 9 years to beat...but beat it I did and joined the elite ranks of the few brave souls who did. :) |

The Donkey Kong Country series, A Link to the Past, and in the PS era, Adventures of Alundra. The last is an amazing Zelda-clone, well worth grabbing on the PS store if you like that kind of adventure games.

Bruce Lee - Commodore 64
I played few hours only but it has been enough. From that i never stopped to play and now will probably end on Path of Exile i think with the thousands hours i invested in playing / managing MG around video games / hosting servers / non profit organization or profit one / flooding forums it's time to simply stop. When i'm watching back i have no regrets about all this time spent on virtual things it was ( still ) a great walk. ETA => One more league - one beer and time to finaly fishing. ;) Hf :)
