SET FREE THE ASCENDANCY POINTS (or rework the lab) [New ascension methods/lab rework ideas]

Due to recent conversations i had with people, i came to realise that some of the suggestions were not clear enough on their own or to which direction they where heading. Im sure a lot of people had the same response when seeing the title alone, and not taking the time to read the OP and said suggestions.

So i decided to update (again) the OP to make it more easily understandable. From the beginning i said we dont want the labyrinth removed, we just want to have some fun with the new toys. And thus we took different approaches to the problem, aiming in different issues each time. Many suggestions made here solved a lot of different things in a different way too. Some are completely new ideas on how to ascend while others are improvements/alterations to the current labyrinth.

I still believe that a different way to ascend is the most appropriate solution (while also keeping the labyrinth as is, as an ascencion option), but i can see the merit in reworking the labyrinth so that its more approachable to people, and im pretty sure the latter is what GGG has in mind too.

Every new suggestion and constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.

Yea. I hope you read the open latter thread, the OP there made really nice suggestion how to fix the problem, and include them in your first post.

Its interesting that even after all this time there are still good suggestions getting posted.

Thanks, but it wasn't actually my idea, it was (funnily enough) Regulator's. But it's a very different kind of thread from this one. A lot less combative, for starters, and a couple of lab fans in there as well, and yet very little spamming/flaming/trolling. (goetzjam tried to change that dynamic, but most people appear to be ignoring him.)

That's a stupid idea. The main reason of doing labs is to get your class and ascendancy points. Who the fuck will care with lab if they make ascendancy points free?

Exactly.

You don't see a problem with that fact?

The lab should be reworked so that more people can enjoy it. Then they won't NEED to tie the Ascendancy points to it to coerce players into playing content they don't enjoy.

Arguably, then they wouldn't need to remove the Ascendancy points from it either.

If I remember the wording correctly he said they weren't closed to the idea, not only that he followed it with the fact that they like content that is decisive in the game.


But I re-read your thread, you dont make a good distinguish between what your comments are and what Chris's are. If you bold his it would be much better for readers.

As for following what he said, he actually agrees with my stance the most on this, on multiple stages.

1) Keep AC inside of the lab.
2) Of the ideas with the least opposition from lab supporters (like myself) he recognizes that the main issue that a lot of people have with the lab is the traps and not really the fact you have to do something new or different.
3) He wants to make sure its slower then actually dealing with the traps

Because your feedback might somehow say the devs its important that both sides of the argument get to present their cases. If you don't want your feedback read\criticized by your "peers" then don't post it on a public forum.
