Who still can not "Ascend" and why?

Hi!

Being Chaos Inoculation and running the labyrinth, is pretty hard.
I'm not that great at running the labyrinth, but it's annoying not to be able to see the overview of the traps, which at the more dangerous setups, sometimes means you're going in blind, since you can't see the whole thing.
I'm using flamedash+faster casting+less duration as a movement skill, but sometimes it doesn't proc even though it's at maximum charges.
My instinct when flamedash doesn't work is to press it again, but this usually results in me getting hit by a trap, then the panic starts, because unlike life based builds I cannot use a potion to regain life, and another hit by a trap would kill me. I'm stun and freeze immune, so that's not a problem.
I have 10.700 ES and +55% recharge rate, but this is not fast enough to recharge between traps.
My Vaal Disciplines resets between zones, so they're no help either.

Right now I don't have my last 2 ascendancy points and with this build I probably never will.

My point is, that I'm disapointed by this content being mandatory to get a complete character and that malfunctioning movement skills are now required to get a complete character build.

Kind regards

interesting problem. you might be able to use some jewels or uniques with faster start of energy shield recharge.

a couple http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Brittle_Barrier
or just rare/magic ones would be fairly easy to swap in

I think I'm doing it right.
GGG isn't
Everytime I ran the lab, the client crashes. Damn, I want those points!
May your maps be bountiful, exile
I've ascended several times in normal. Came very close in cruel, got Izzy down to where culling was about to proc and then unexpected server crash. Logged back in and got about halfway through when GGG decides to restart realm, and there isn't enough time to finish. Port back to town and close game. Patch comes in and game updates. Try lab again, new layout for lab. Damn. Still fight my way through it up to first Izzy fight and now his sunder attack instantly one shots me despite having cwdt+immortal call setup. His hit was too op for IC to proc before death, even though I see the icon appear above my head. I'm guessing that because of nerf to normal Izzy there were buffs to cruel Izzy.
Try again and get to second Izzy fight in cruel. Unexpected server crash.

And of course there were some traps and stuff that I just plain goofed on and died to. Those were my bad. But all in all this content is pretty much rage fuel until they fix it and bring some stability to it. They also don't even have the promised ladder system for it up and ready (probably because of how messed up and unstable the content seems to be at the moment). Everything about the lab feels like it was rushed out for release because "OMGz NEW CONTENTS!" without extensive testing. I'm hoping that now that I've overleveled to friggin' 76, I might stand a chance of ascending a second time. More than likely, I'll get right to the cusp of achieving it and then unexpectedly stare at a log in screen. My PC has an i7 4790k, Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970, Patriot Blaze 120GB SSD, 7TB of HDD space, MSI Gaming 5 mobo, Corsair H80i CPU Cooler, and 16GB of G.Skill Sniper 1600Hz DDR3 RAM. I do admit to using wireless on the build, but I have a 5GHz bandwidth card and my pc is the only device that is running that bandwidth. It's separate from all the other laptops and devices that are running in the house. Download speed is about 70-ish MB/s and upload is about 25-ish MB/s. OS is Windows 10 64bit.

It's a very nice system that I custom built myself and I have great connection, even in spite of wireless. I do not have these issues with any other game in my extensive game libraries that I've built up over the years. But this one game that doesn't even tax a fraction of my system suddenly can't stay connected for the life of it.

And it's not even the whole game. This only becomes a serious issue whenever I'm running the lab or a perandus horde spawns, which tells me that it's the new content specifically. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the "reset when you die" part that they're pushing just doesn't work. Not because people can't beat Izzy in one run (they can), but because bugs screw people over on otherwise good lab runs.

I feel like I have to be at least lvl 90 to even think about attempting Merci lab, and I'm positive that this new rage fuel content is just going to burn me out on the game entirely. I can tell the burn out is starting to happen already. I have some new character playstyles I wanna try out, but the thought of having to grind to get to merci to try and be able to map on them just kills that desire.

Overall I love this game and I feel the traps and whatnot were actually great ideas. It feels very much more like a true dungeon crawler game to me now with them. I just want a fair chance at beating the content. I want it to be 100% where if I fail, it's completely my fault (which in most cases it is) and that I have legit means of learning from the mistakes I make and "git gud". Hard to git gud when the failure came from potato servers. There's nothing I can do to fix that and there's no way for me to improve as a player when these things are the cause.

It's very punishing if you're playing other than an armor class it seems. Almost all of his attacks seem to one shot my EVA build chars. Normally not a problem but you have to basically get lucky rolls to not get randomly stunned or outright one shotted.

I have 10k armor and he kills me easy if dont play hide and seek... and even then i died to him today trying to get more of the challenge

4450 hp and izaro doesnt OS me. It's an eva / dodge build, only 1K armor.
i use
and 600 hp/s + decent life leech, i'm full between each hit, of course you have to run in some phases... because it's not made to be tankable. We do not stay in the dominus' fist of god aoe too. Not everything is tankable.

a fast flask is really good in thoses kinds of fights.

for the armor,

10K armor is Low against hard hitters. You need 35K to halve to the damage against most heavy hits ( 3K to 4K range).

To prevent one third of damage, you need armor 5 times the damage (e.g. 500 Armor for 100 damage)
To prevent half of damage, you need armor 10 times the damage (e.g. 1000 Armor for 100 damage)
To prevent two thirds of damage, you need armor 20 times the damage (e.g. 2000 Armor for 100 damage)
To prevent three quarters of damage, you need armor 30 times the damage (e.g. 3000 Armor for 100 damage)
To prevent 90% of damage, you need armor 90 times the damage (e.g. 9000 Armor for 100 damage)

if he deals 3500 phys Dmg you need 17 500 armor to reduce the damage by 1/3, 1167.

the investissement is huge. But physical damage will be sustainable easily.
I will never be good but always I try to improve.

Hello.

I just tried the labyrinth, with my level 86, triple flame totem, Nixahcane, on Normal.

I did see some videos of people running past all mobs, to get to Izaro, and figured that was their play style. But, I like to kill things, and not run past them, as it seems wrong, in an ARPG.

Well, I now know, why they run past the mobs.

After 1 hour 15 minute, I still had not found the 1st Izaro fight. I did discover the back tracking to use the silver and gold keys, in the their respective doors, was very annoying and lost a lot of time.

I teleported back to town, as it might take 3 more hours to finish, and that is way to long, especially, at any moment, a trap could kill my character.

Speaking of traps. Not being able to destroy them, is odd. Also, having to rush into the unknown, as you run ahead of a whirling blade trap, to then run into more whirling blade traps, to then try to find a corner to stand, is well, very Tomb Raider.

Well, I remember now, why I stopped playing Tomb Raider, and started playing Path of Exile.

I will try it again, but I have to get this bad taste out of my mind. I will have to run past mobs, and ignore keys, and try not to die to the immortal traps.

Wow, this was not fun...

Ps, do you get a chance to empty your characters inventory, while in the Labyrinth? Or should I just pickup currency?

Have a great day, everyone!
I'm waiting for the nerf of traps.
I did normal and cruel at level 73. I over-levelled everything by quite a margin since movement in this game combined with graphical lag and bad servers doesn't make for a playable labyrinth. Which is a shame, the visuals are very nice.
Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right.
Well I finally ascended on Cruel. Came very close to failing a couple times during the final Izzy fight because I have to stand far away from him to be safe, but then with him off screen, I can't see when he's about to lob green crap at me. The basalt flask is a godsend because of that damage reduction, plus the life leech roll I have on it helps me use life flasks less often. I feel good that even despite today's izzy fights being stuck behind two golden doors (so more time jumping over traps and less time fighting the boss), I still won.

The part that got me heated for a bit is that I go to the ascendancy plaque after I beat him, only to see no points. There was no indication at all that you have to open your skill tree to add the points and until a guild member pointed it out to me, I had thought that I didn't get any points for the run.

The more I play the lab and this new content, the more I just want to stop playing overall. I admit to feeling some burnout, but also because I'm just getting tired of the stress involved in doing any of this. It's great that you have to think on your feet, but honestly if I wanted to do a whole playthrough of the game with just one life, I'd play hardcore.

Good news is that D2 just released a patch so that modern OS platforms can play the game. It might be time to dust off my keys and get back into it.

So sorry your off screen build couldn't see what was going on, off screen. Oh and bye.
