I doubt anyone sees this as a problem. I guess some people would just like some alternatives, for lulz.

I prefer playing female characters, cuz, you know - I prefer looking chick all that time I'm farming, and not a dude. XD

Not sure what you're talking about since all of them are Oriaths with one of them being a Karui/warrior slave.

Obviously it make sense most of them are from Oriath.

So you're saying the fact that Oriaths are all supposed to be white, and the only visible minority char that we can choose is a black slave and you don't see a problem here?

I would rather see old templar nun. Totally corrupt, twisted, power crazed underneath the facade of piety. She's not taking the exile well. Shows on her ragged robes and all kinds of nasty skin conditions on her wrinkled, pouted face. Let's turn that into a grin. Now she's mad alright. Vengeance? It's a sin, but she's just about to stop giving a ****.

Yes, and the Nuns model could look similar to Dialla post-usage of Rapture device.

For male witch, I'd go for the daddy look. Mid 40s, think of a guy that spawned her or taught her. Super clean, cold appearance and behaviour. "Magic school" professor gone bad. Everyone else on the ship is like "why me?", but he's sitting there in the corner like he's on a ******* cruise ship. This one is on a mission, thus he made himself exiled on purpose.

Female shadow is in her prime, dark red hair and of course and hot as hell. This one is not brough up to be a sociopath, she was born one. Big game hunter. Calm, reserved. In her free time was a prostitute for high end clientele, needed sex to dull her senses even more, maybe some punishment, and was too distant to actually pursue anything on her own. It was never about the money for her, any of it. For her, it's time to get someone to finally pay.

Male ranger would be legolas. Nope, I'd make him a teen boy that doesn't know what the **** is going on and just happened to keep company on the job for a few years for his huntsman father. Took the bow on the ship because that was the only weapon that meant something to him. He's just doing as told, until he realizes he's really doing what he was always meant to do.

Female duelist gotta be more exotic in looks, that's all I know. (that was S U P E R R A C I S T) Short hair. Used to concealing her sex to participate in combat on equal terms with prejudiced men. It kinda shows it you ask me, though... and she doesn't need to fake anything in Wraeclast.

Not sure how a female marauder could look, but I think wouldn't make her a karui (lore makes it complicated.) I think I'd go for a huge, a bit fat, messy in appearance blacksmith's apprentice. Obviously kind of girl that boys are laughing at because they are confused if she's a boy or a girl. Or her age. Confirmed drunkard. You all done make her angry.

Male scion with soft, feminine looks. Obviously noble. Crazed with combat in all forms, as any adolescent boy that never saw any of it in real life. Maybe a bit as a way to seem more dangerous due to his fragile appearance. Brought up by a master-at-arms from his venerable house whom he considered a real father figure, while the man himself never really considered him to be a "real" student. Why would he, boy is never gonna be as good as the others with the weaponry. There were other teachers in the house, though. Now, he's gonna make his own way.

never gonna happen either way, I know :D

Female Templar makes no sense - Templars can only be men. :V And a nun is a nun - not a Templar. :V

No idea about the lore here, but it's a matter of wording. "nun is a nun not templar" Both are servants of a higher power by design, in that sense they are the same. If the word "nun" bothers you, think "vestal" like in ancient... times... ...Or sort of a matriarch figure that takes care of the congregate, as a "housekeeper". Even a committed "servant" would work - pretty sure when you serve a bunch of priests, in your mind, you're doing god's work too.

Perq wrote:

Witch, yeah, ok. Obviously can't be called witch, but whatever works.

Sorry, was worded this way to pinpoint it's the same class, and yeah - I do know the WORD (again) "warlock". Disclaimer - english is not my first language.

Perq wrote:

Female Shadow... prostitute? Come on. Shadow does it for money, BECAUSE he feels no regrets. Why would she need sex to dull her senses? Makes no sense, tbh pretty sexist approach. :P

Male shadow always felt forced for me. He's a phoney, face it. He's trying so hard to be dark no adult person would ever treat him seriously. With female shadow, I'd like to see a real, natural born killer. A sociopath. Not a conditioned one, by harsh environment or pressure. Using her sexuality as a way to disarm her target seems perfectly reasonable to me - and it doesn't even mean either she can't enjoy it too, in her own way. She can't form a meaningful bond without anyone because of her psychological condition, so that's out of the question.

You see something related to sex and you call it "sexist", I see something that says that something related to sex is automatically "sexist", and call it "retarded". In regards to the concept, same could easily apply to a male shadow - if he was portrayed the way I described the female one, to begin with.

Perq wrote:

Ranger, why. Lol. What Ranger says can as well be said by a dude, and it would make as much sense (which is not much). :V

That's precisely why I wouldn't like the same **** again. Unless they would be twins... yeah, that would work becuase it would build them both as characters at the same time, in a way it makes sense.

Perq wrote:

Marauder... what? Why not Karui? Maramoa is perfect example of female Karui... And why would she not be fitting?

I don't know honestly... were the female not restricted in ranged weapon usage in some way? Oh damn, you're right, males were the one bound by their code. Mistake! Still, putting a Karui femele in the same role as the male one kinda implies that they are predestined or restricted to this role of marauders... VIDEOGAME RACISM 10/10 IGN. Joking obviously, but it does seem kinda forced for some reason I'm not quite sure how to pinpoint.

Plus, I like the big fat girl angry archetype - they are really scary. That's marauder for you. If I saw a male shadow in a dark alley and he would be like "I will enjoy kiling you." I'd be like "Excuse me, where the **** is your mommy?" If an angry fat girl would look at me the wrong way on the street full of people in broad daylight, I'd be like "Mommy where are you please come pick me up now".

Male wants to play a male character = sexist, k.

Kind of, I guess? Not sure. You prefer a male character because it is male. I guess that is sexist? Not really an expert on the field, but I would think it is.

I prefer to play AS male character because I'M male.

You obviously can't grasp this, I'm done arguing with you. It's just silly. Sorry.

I'm not sure if it necessarily goes to the point of sexism, but I can see the point. I guess it depends if we want to see ourselves on the screen, or to role play as someone else, and why. I could ask if you perceive there to be some inherent "flaw" in playing as a girl, as a guy in real life.

Personally, I actually seem to prefer playing female characters, but maybe that's because I'm ME all the rest of the damned time. I'm not me in a fictional game on a fictional continent. Besides, I am not any of the character classes that exist in the game. I'm just a lowly, normal-ass human being.

I imagine many other guys, however, would choose not to play females if they could just all play men. Now, maybe you wouldn't do this for sexist reasons (maybe you just want to identify with the gender of the character), but quite a few certainly would.

There's still this idea permeating much of our societies that female = inferior. We don't want to be a girl because that's not as "good." She can't rawk like a man. All of that baseless bullshit. But it's there. That's why girls dressing as guys is okay, but the same can not always be said of the reverse. Give a boy "girls' toys" or "girls' colors" and see what happens.

Were the option available, Wraeclast might become a sausage fest. Not that this would be absolutely terrible, but I like that there is the diversity there is, with stories for the character classes and the like. I had initially been all for the character skin transfer MTX idea, but this thread is slowly turning me against it.

Not gonna quote that giant bulk of a text, but just gonna address some stuff:

1. Shadow prostitute. (this is a term now)

I'm not sure how being unable to feel empathy must be connected to being a sex-addict. :V
Shadow is not forced. He is exactly that - he lacks empathy, so he does what others cannot, and gets paid for it. He is smart and cynical (most smart people are cynical *wink* *wink*).
Your thinking that if there is a woman, there must be sex is off. That is all I wanted to say - no need for name calling, matey. I'm not opposed to such ideas, but shoving that random prostitution makes no sense.
Why? Well, take Piety for instance. She used to be a prostitute. Why? Because she needed funds for her projects. She didn't do that because she liked it (not saying there are no women like this, nor that it is a bad thing). And this MAKES SENSE. She had a clear reason to do it. Your female shadow has no reason, other than I like dirty women, who kill people. Lol.

2. Duelist

Yeah, and this is what they should be. Same (or similar) characters, but with other sexes. Do you want people complaining, that they want to play that Shadow Male Character, but in female skin, and not that Dirty Whore Shadow?

3. Marauder

Urgh... dude. Really. Your personal fetishes/phobias do not interest us here. :V
If you'd saw male Shadow in a dark alley, and he'd say to you that he'll enjoy killing you, you'd be screaming like a girl, and running for your life. Do you see those tools he has on his belt? My wild guess is that he isn't a doctor. :S
Lets have game's integrity on first place, and personal preferences a little bit further. Different people like different stuff, and if we all start screaming what we want PERSONALLY, we will never reach an agreement. We have a general theme, story and lore to create stuff - no need to make stuff up.
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
