What if EA buy GGG

Thankfully it would never happen

But it would be hilarious to see how badly they butchered the game...just look at what they did to swtor.

So they'll keep the f2p tag.
Almost certainly reduce the number of character slots down to 2 or 3 but old players will keep current characters.

Reduce stash tab space down to one page default...making 3 of them remove only

Reduce usable UI slots, and keeping 3 potion slots behind a pay wall and 3 skill slots

Adding a random item box which can contain almost anything but guarantee a small amount of random currency

Offer a sub with increased drop rates and exp and a random item box

Purchasable full respecs

All future expansions will be behind a pay wall initially allowing paying players to get ahead

I'm really glad it won't be sold

Considering that i have 1.5k hours on battlefield 4, which is an EA game... it probably wont happen... EA has no experience in anything other then the frostbite engine, which is obvious, since that engine is lovely and all, compared to... whatever engine PoE is running

EA is a decent company, people give them flak for making terrible products, but they're a well experienced company

As for them buying PoE... not likely going to happen, GGG are too smart, they favour their love for this game over any monetary value.

2) Switch to Grim Dawn (which to be honest in final version is closest to Diablo legacy)

Fictive scenarios are fun to entertain if there's even a slight chance of them happening. You know, like aliens invading and turning us all into food, or vampires actually being sparkly-skinned immortals who only eat vegetables like Kristen Stewart.

These could all conceivably happen.

EA Buying GGG could not.

So this is pointless.

It happened to Mythic!

*Goes cry in corner.

If EA buys GGG it would be the second time that EA destroys my favorite game studio, and the second time that I would feel forced to quit my favorite online game.
Chris would accept if this is enough money to develop PoE2 with high end 3D engine :p

Charan, do you live or work next to GGG office and know chris on a serious level? I've been on the forums more and you seem to know a lot of info.

Spoiler

I'll answer honestly because you asked. I don't want there to be any misconceptions: this is not bragging or big-noting myself. It is what it is.

Chris and I are friends as a result of my interest in PoE. I've visited the office for a few days (it's just across a small sea for me) and hung out with some of the staff. They're all great people, but I guess Chris and I just got along after the first meeting a year before that, which I was super reluctant to do because I didn't want to take advantage of my support level to be special or anything. As it turned out, Chris is just a nice guy. He loves to talk PoE and to hint at new stuff (let's not call it trolling, because he's never malicious about it) and share his toys inasmuch as he can. I think that first lunch we had we killed 7 hours effortlessly.

I reckon he'd be a tough-ass boss but never unfair.

Chris is not a particularly material person. Some devs, you know, they get big, buy Ferraris, throw ridiculous parties with hookers and blow because that's what the movies tell them cool people do. I'm fairly sure Chris and co would still eat at their local restaurants and catch the bus no matter what. He's just that unassuming. It's something Kiwis and Australians share -- we revel in our lack of flair and pomp. This sometimes backfires, because it makes us seem too casual, laid back or unprofessional, but the proof is in the pudding.

Most importantly, he really loves PoE. It's his baby. No one wants to see their baby in the wrong hands.

That's why I'm dead certain this would never happen. Everyone has their price tag, but PoE isn't worth enough to EA to reach Chris'. Unless you offered him enough to buy Wizards of the Coast outright. I'd say that might be his threshold. And even then he'd be ultimately answering to Hasbro, which doesn't sound like much fun.

Ultimately it's not what PoE is worth to others we should care about. It's what it's worth to GGG that matters.

I wasn't implying this was bad I was just purely curious as to how you know so much. I didn't know you were the equiv of an investor, so to speak. And I fully believe you when you talk about this topic. Its just in some of the posts ive come across you mention you gave a lot of money, so I thought you were some big wig with a chip on the shoulder or something. Glad thats not the case.
I mean as in you gave lots of money so you'd get treated differently and better then me or any other player because of your donations. So I guess it has some merit after all. And I'll give the feedback forum a check out as well now that you mention it.
