Check out Grim Dawn if you haven't seen the screen shots yet. That game looks more like the earlier Diablo games as well.

D3 looks like a 2D painting, which is an art style that will survive the ages.

Yes Path of Exile looks heavily like a real Diablo 3. The whole style is way more gritty, way more bloody and way more authentic to the original idea of a mature (but not only for mature) aestethics. I could live a while with Diablo 3's new style but since Blizzard overdid it I throw the game in the trash and I think you can say cleary:
Diablo 3 is not Diablo 3. If you have a brand and changing the whole design, you're raping the brand. Maybe you can make exceptions. For example, if you talk about a Spin-Off or if the brand is really old but Diablo is neither old or is the new game is a spin-off. Path of Exile is very near to the original brand so I will prefer this game over the other. Same with Grim Dawn. Blizzard can call me if they make a Diablo 3 that is doing justice to the brand. |

Oh yea there are gearing up for the casual player because there's more money in it. This point is debatable but at least PoE is for the hardcore arpg fan! | |
