There's already so many gateways in europe which are pretty close together as well. I play on the washington gateway, but life in the Southeast of the US, and get around 35 ping, and that's the same distance from france to amsterdam or london. As others have said, this sounds a lot more like having a shitty ISP rather than being too far away. I mean, I can even play on london Gateway and still get about 120 ping, which is what you guys are sporting for gateways practically right next to you.
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.

Asian players have to use the Singapore Gateway even if they're not from Singapore. I don't see what's the issue to be honest.

" You should read all post before going to reply. In france, there is France Telecom ISP wich many people use. Actually, they have issue between cogent & Opentransit, they are fighting and briding bandwich themself. So people who's using France Telecom ( Orange ) ISP get issue with HOP routage during connection on EU gateway from PoE. The fact is , it would be better if there is a French Gateway, also GGG already known that issue. That's why Kuzamagi suggest them to do a French gateway. Also, i am feeling useless that there is a London - Amsterdam - Frankfurt - Milan gateway wich they are clearly on the same distance as France ( depends where in france you live. but pretty same ) Europe is a huge continent, clearly gateway choise are not effectiv in term of geoposition actually. Also there is this french problem wich they have an ISP who's got Opentransit fighting Cogent mutually. So there is only one option for frensh actually :> Use a VPN and get issue for HC player like me. Change ISP , but not all people are able to do that for a game. I live in Chile (Santiago) and the straight-line distance to Washington DC is more than 8000 km. Nevertheless I have a constant ping of 150 and I can play without problems. I find it curious that many ISP from underdeveloped countries are better than in Europe XD
Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

GGG uses Softlayer so it depends on their data center locations where the game's gateways are located. Softlayer does have a Paris center, though. It wouldn't make much of a difference as far as distance is concerned but maybe there's a small chance when the French localisation is released.
It still would have to be cost-effective and given that GGG probably doesn't have that much money to burn... but if it's actually worth the investment, why not? Exit, pursued by a Plummeting Ursa.

It would be very stupid of me to try to play HC if I had problems with latency, don't you think?
