Dualwielding shields please
Way to beat around the bush and not give any reasons why dual shields should be allowed.
For the same reason a marauder can dual wield wands. And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit - The Tick

Uhh... If my witch was allowed to dual wield shields I would have a HUGE advantage over everyone else. Could you imagine how badass my minions would be? Or hell, just being a fire witch and having an extra source of ES.
If it didn't break the game in unintended ways, then yeah, something stupid like dual wielding shields should be allowed. But it would cause so many problems that it simply isn't worth the time and effort to adjust everything else to balance it. Bullshit, you get the game for free.

" Indeed. Not that I would necessarily pursue such a course, but the option might be nice. Of course, you would have much higher armor and much lower DPS, and would want to plan your build accordingly. Weird builds make this game more personal, creative, wacky. But let's not remove the ability to use a normal weapon, LOL. Invited to Beta 2012-03-18 / Supporter since 2012-04-08

" But the large shields are still carried with just one hand. " And what about dual wand wielding? Surely a shield can't match the damage output of a wand or scepter; that's why I have 2 wands at the moment. Dat Damage. LOL Invited to Beta 2012-03-18 / Supporter since 2012-04-08

" Make it a keystone deep in the Duelist tree. Far far away from any casters. Alternatively, make it require a bunch of strength and casters will quickly find it undesirable if they still want to do damage. |

I could see this happening as an unique non-caster shield that equips as main-hand instead of off-hand. Crazy builds like this can be created in this game from uniques. Unarmed combat doesn't make much sense in an environment with swords and fireballs, for example, but we have the Facebreaker gloves.

" I'm still missing how dual-shield would benefit a caster. EDIT: I just saw a rare, very high-level shield with some massive spell boosts. Well, so okay, maybe that's better than a wand. But if wands can do that as well at those levels, then the point remains. Invited to Beta 2012-03-18 / Supporter since 2012-04-08 Last edited by VideoGeemer#0418 on Feb 17, 2013, 3:08:21 AM

The idea is fine and migth be fun!
But what about a new Facebreaker like item instead! [Ribcraker] Unique shield lvl 30 500 to armor 40 + health 60 - mana Movement speed reduced with 20% (you are a tank your heavy!) 20 % of dmg recived reflected to attacker your 10 % more likle to be shocked chilled frozen or ignited -20% to elemental resists (you are gonna be a melee tank there should be a magic drawback) Shield charge is always at full effeckt (no need to be far away to reall use shield charge) Can be used as a weapon in main hand GGG if you take after this sugestion i expeckt 1 to be placed in my inventory!!! |

I believe this is a very good idea. If properly balanced, it could unlock many new diverse builds. If placed at a very far place of the passive tree, such as the dexterity zone, Strength and Intelligence builds will have to sacrifice many points in order to get this perk, which in turn will balance their benefits from dual-wielding shields.
May not even have to be a perk in the passive skill tree, it could as well be "Shield Stats reduced by 40% in Main-Hand", on top of only using the highest block chance, rather than combining them both. This may seem like a stupid idea to some, but overall, it isn't overpowered if properly balanced, and I don't see a reason why not implement this into the game. I, for once, would be glad to dual-wield shields, because I know of some builds that would benefit greatly by wielding another shield rather than a weapon. For example, the Springleaf shield, +6% health regen on low life. If dual-wielded, it could provide +12% regen on low life, this seems over-powered, but if the second shield stats get reduced by a certain percentage, such as 40%; it would instead provide 9.6% hp regen. It may not seem as much, 2.4%, but when taking into account large amounts of HP it matters quite a lot, considering you're sacrificing a weapon-slot. This balance, in my eyes, proves to be enough to not be overpowered, but enough to not be underpowered. Please GGG, implement a dual-wielding shield option, either in the passive skill tree or through default with a reduced effectiveness. Last edited by Scheduled#4171 on Feb 27, 2013, 8:28:33 AM
