If you have an exalt, do you call it "shit" if you can trade it for 50 chaos instead of 30? Don't think so. Like Shagsbeard said, an exchange rate doesn't make a market shit.
Decent boots go for a chaos at first. Later, you can get them for free because everyone has better shoes. Even later, you cannot get decent boots at all because all active traders will vendor such crap. This is shit for some individuals but it's normal behaviour of a market like this. Dynamit,

The real question is why chaos is used as the cents to an exalt's dollar. At this point both alchs (for maps) and regals (for jewel crafting and master crafting) have a higher utility than chaos. I only use chaos to reroll a no go map, which is pretty much only negative resists between all my characters.

beter way to avoid inflation is dont buy them, sooner or later they will lower the prices when they see that their overpriced items/currency arent selling.
