Didn't Chris say that they wouldn't introduce new higher tier item mods?

To what mark said,
No Chris didn't PROMISE this wouldn't happen. Chris and the team almost never deal in absolutes. But he did make us FEEL like new higher tiers were not a worry on the horizon. That's not debatable and that's why people are upset. If you fail to understand this you've truly lost touch. The team is going to do what they want, and there's nothing left to debate. But telling people they're crazy for feeling this way is a little ridiculous. IGN - Xukai

You will find people bitching and whining about every update anyway. Nobody cares at the end.
If you are honest, the new mods is the change with 2.0 with the smallest impact, so all the noise around it is kinda ridiculous. Some comment here are so childish... ( gnagna there is a promise and it's broken ... gnagna ) IGN TylordRampage Last edited by Malone#6946 on Jun 17, 2015, 5:50:25 AM

Why are you guys still debating? It was never a promise. The haven't broken anything. They've made a decision based on the game as it was, as it is and as it will be in the future. And the sad part: This isn't about "oh no, I'm going to make 40k DPS instead of 42k DPS". This is "oh no, my item is only worth 40 ex instead of 42 ex". It's sad to see people heart broken about minor issues like this.

" I realize that this is hard to understand for someone who has never crafted a 6*T1 item (this is not meant as an insult - I just want to explain why this decision hurts us (crafters) so much.) It takes about 600-800 ex worth of et/ex to craft a non-weapon 6*t1. If you are really good at farming stuff this is about 300-400 hours of game play. If you are done with this you usually get some stuff back through mirroring fees. An you can always sell the 6*T1 for about 2/3 of its crafting cost. So, you typically break even (after selling the 6*T1) or at least get reasonably close to that. With the announcement of the additional affix tier the value of the current 6*T1 has been cut in half, at least. No one is currently mirroring items that might be outdated in a couple of weeks. No one is buying 6*T1 at a reasonable price (i.e. significantly less than their crafting cost). If you play standard, in order to understand what this means to someone who has put a lot of effort into crafting, just imagine that about 1k to 2k hours of gameplay progression is deleted from your account. How would you feel about that? |

" The only problem i see is if you crafted a mirror item to use as a mean of currency via mirror fees or to sell for profit. Your 6xT1 item is still strong as ever, sure, there MIGHT exist a 2% stronger item in the future but you still couldn't think your items would stay perfect forever. You wanted perfection and you have it, it is a perfect 6xT2 item whereas the new 6xT1 item will probably be a lot harder to get so while you got your 6xT2 item in 2.0, with the same amount of currency and time i doubt you could have gotten even a new 4xT1 item. You also have to realize that this game wasn't MEANT to be played as an economy simulator. Sure, trading was meant to be part of the game, but not the part that people spend most of their time on. If you want to play it that way, that's your choice, but realize that the devs aren't going to be basing their decisions primarily around that style of gameplay and sometimes situations like this will be the result.

" However, playing it as such IS a valid option. The leap that a lot of these types of players are failing to make is that if you treat the game as a business, you need to be actually prepared to face similar problems faced by a real business or economy - Things Change. Failure to adapt to change is a mark of bad business - if you haven't maintained enough operating capital to reinvest in the crafting of the new tier of items/affixes, then you've played and lost the game you created for yourself. It sounds harsh, and for that I am sorry, but you cannot direct ire at GGG for perceived promises, and inferred guarantees, and your own lack of planning. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! |

" Yeah, I agree with all of that. It IS a valid option, but like I said, not the "intended" playstyle and not the main one decisions will be based around. And yeah, if someone DOES want to play that way, they better be prepared to adapt just like a real business will have to. |

The game is moving forward. We get to enjoy new and harder content. New and better items. New and better affixes. Maybe more challenging fights. We get to see our favorite game evolve.
But no. You have to cry about the precious economy and your hard earned currency. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Well most don't so our progress is actually constantly lost. In any case. It's happening. Your items are devalued. Question for you. Knowing this is happening (took from Jan 2013 - July 2015) are you going to craft more knowing it could happen again in ~2 years for Act 5? Edit: I ask out of curiosity. I have been "rich" in the terms of I can build whatever I want, whenever I want. I have never had a mirror in my inventory, or more than a net value of 500ex. I wanted to know how the real big big money would react. People are saying maybe folks won't bother crafting new perfect items, or that only fewer niche ones would be crafted.
