Proper way to deal with rude/insulting people in-game ?

Hi,

So, today again I've met a rude and insulting people.

This guy is selling a Flicker Strike gem, level 18, for 1 alch.




Nice, this is exactly what I need.
I whisper the guy and after a minute, it appears the guy just made a mistake in his thread. No worry about that, it happens to me sometimes and in this case I politely apologize.
But when I try to explain that HE made a mistake in HIS thread, the guy denies the truth and insults me.


(The name has been masked to respect the forum ethical rules)

Now, I have to say this kind of behaviour takes a great part of the fun & gaming experience away.

I've read a thread (http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/133078) saying that this kind of people can be reported in-game, but I'm not sure I want to do that because I know GGG has so much better work & interesting things to do than replacing Mom & Dad in teaching social & educational basic rules to a random player.

So, ignoring him is of course the most natural thing to do, but it won't resolve the problem, and impunity will also encourage this kind of people in their behaviour.

So, what's the proper way to efficiently deal with this kind of rude people ?

Same way in real life... wish them well, and hope you never have to deal with them again. Really important lesson in life.

Don't make the problem worse. That's what you're doing when you start trying to change their behavior. Quit it. Just leave them be. Taking screen shots and pursuing "justice" is just going to make your life miserable.

I know you're probably right, but in the same time, aren't we comforting them in their behaviour by doing so ? Isn't it the same thing in real life if we hide our head in the sand everytime something goes wrong ?

There's one thing however, that would be wonderful, it's a personal in-game blacklist. So that when we meet a rude/insulting people, we can definitely ban him from our gameplay experience. A kind of extension to the "Ignore" feature, in fact.

Ignore and move on :)

That's a lot of wasted time to try to prove a point to the other guy who clearly gives 0 fucks. I've stopped trying to change people like that years ago. Much easier to just move on and find someone you can deal with.

No. You bump into him, shove him out of the way and THEN walk away behind him. Much more satisfying.

report and ignore, if you can't use the ingame report function take the screen shot and email it to support.
