RIPPING OFF NOT =SCAM; THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT MORALLY RIGHT

This was an odd thread, thanks for the read, it brightened or dimmed my day, or maybe just added some welcome confusion.

Also "don't hate the player, hate the game" is just a failure of imagination. If you put your mind to it you can hate anything and everything, don't hate one or the other, hate both.

The greatest irony within this thread is that those who are complaining about players "ripping off other players" would cry rivers if they had to sell their items at fixed prices set by GGG due to their complaints of the free trade system. Sure it's a double-edged sword, but I'll say it once more:

Educate yourselves in market values (you've been spoon-fed a free web tool via poe.trade to do so) and you won't have any issues. You can adjust your expectations on what to buy/sell for accordingly. Sure, some items might be a little bit harder to price, but you can get a ballpark figure. I really don't understand what the problem is here. There are far more pressing matters to be protesting over, such as the implementation of being able to trade with a player who is offline due to being in an entirely different time zone.

You guys are complaining about something that is the equivalency of getting ripped off when going to buy a new car, because you didn't use the tools available to you to do a little bit of research first (Kelly Blue Book, Cars.com, etc). It honestly baffles me that anyone could blindly make a transaction and then complain about it afterwards because they didn't get the deal they felt they were entitled to when they had no idea what the market value of said purchase was in advance.

If someone blatantly steals your currency without providing you with said transaction, then raise hell, but otherwise, buck up and learn the system!

Wanna know whats happening in that game right now? People who were never interested in the items that collectors slaved for have been botting/RMT'ing for years. These same people are also targeting well known players that own these rare items and attempting to hack their accounts. Slowly but surely these items popped up on the market and since the games population is small nothing is hidden anymore. Somebody gets hacked and all their items are now in the hands of somebody who 1. doesn't appreciate the items for what they are and 2. are instantly being sold not a day after getting stolen from the original account owner. The games support is basically non-existent so these people get away with everything. Anyway im going off topic and rambling.

I don't get it. At what point would it be wrong then? Isn't a purely self-serving abusive/deceptive action morally wrong the moment you attempt it?

Why would the victim's behaviour after the fact matter at all when judging the perpetrator's intents and past behaviour?

I've had a huge discussion in here (with some trolls and some non-trolls) about moral before. To sum it up, a lot of people in here is like;

"Moral? What is that? Is it against the rules? No? Does it slow my way to riches? Yes? Then FUCK morals".

"Empathy, morals and politeness is just idiotic hurdles on my way to riches".



It's sad, indeed. It's scary to see the lack of moral people have when they are anonymous.

eh. Just depends on who you choose to play with in this game.

I have no troubles giving an item like headhunter to a large part of the people on my friends list and knowing they will return it if I need it. And mind you that item is a significant portion of my HC and still not ripped char's value.

The sole fact that GGG is allowing this to happen, and let people get burned by morally awkward people is a riddle to me. I mean, ok, people will still do this, but saying that this is ok? Great way to make newcomers turn around and walk away.

Depends on if the stat on Mjölner is just a value they change or if they change the meaning of the mod like they did for Acuity. If it is the latter then there will be no legacy Mjölner.
