5L, 6L drop.... true or myth ?

5 links I just expect to drop, they're more common than exalts in my experience. 5 links on a desirable base can be quite rare though. It's usually on a shitty two hander.

I had a 6 link dessert brigandine drop once in ambush. I got super excited and posted a trade thread with a buyout of 15 exalts based on what I'd previously seen them listed for. The assholes of the trade forums decided to latch onto the thread and berate me about the price being ridiculous for an ilvl 67 6 link. I ended up trading it and some fuses for a very well rolled rathpith that was priced at 5 exalts. Probably the most disappointing trade I've made.

found white in 66 map, then chaos spammed until decent values. took me to lvl 91

To add to the RNG experiences...

Total played time around 620 hours

Found 3 exalts

found 1 6 link two handed sword as a white item, level 62 I think... Spent about 40C trying to make it into something decent and finally vendored it for 1 divine.

found 2 5l weapons, both white

found 4 or 5 5l chests, all white I think.

6 socketed 3 items so far, seems like it takes me 100-200 jeweler orbs

5 linked 2 items so far and it about breaks me when I get on that program. I don't record my orb use but I'd say around 100-180 fuses in my experience.

if we assume currency conversions of 45 links:1 ex, 6.5 jewelers:1 chaos and 38 chaos:1 exalt...

that's about 6.2 ex spent on links and about 2 more ex on jewelers orbs.

so maybe 8-8.5 exalts total invested into these items...



plus I think I paid about 12C for the low socket Death's Oath and maybe 15 for the Daresso and the Doomsower was a low socket# drop. Probably not a real great investment overall. Especially since I kinda later realized my Daresso could have had a 3% leech instead of the 2% it has (rookie mistake). Also for comparison, I bought this 5 linked lightning coil for 1.5 ex during the last month of Torment league which seems like a better deal than trying to link my own. But it might be a good bit more expensive on standard league, I don't know.

Also this is my first 5 link item. Bought it for something like 15C on torment league in my first couple weeks on the game as a white item. Alched it and used one chaos to get the stats it has.

and yesterday, I made deal for all my wealth, ie: 1 ex, 13 chaos, 2 vaal, 5 blessed, this:

Yes. That is seriously above average luck. I got my first 6L after playing for two years.
