No point trying to be a nice guy on POE trade
The game gives you means to prevent yourself from that kind of situations. I consider someone is free to message me with whatever offer he wants even if I have a price listed for my item, and that he is right to expect an answer from me as long as he has been polite. If I want to take that offer, I just say "yes", if not, I say "no" or I make a counter-offer. If they become insistent or begin to play the usual "I'm giving you advice so you can sell your item because right now it won't sell" game just to make the price lower, I just ignore them. As I said, you don't have to go through all that crap.

" Imo you should just tell him the price. Sometime people have no idea. Forum pvp https://www.instagram.com/critterspencils/ Last edited by lolozori#1147 on Apr 7, 2015, 9:15:34 AM

In real world I always get a price from the seller. So pic is somewhat invalid. I never play the offer game unless someone states that my b/o is to high and then I say that im open for offers.

" That wasn't good faith negotiation on the part of the guy who tried to buy it. The guy was clearly trying to scam the OP by offering 2 Chaos and working up from there. He started at 20% of the value the OP placed on it and 13% of the value of the typical Rats Nest. Then just kept doing an obnoxious "Last Call" count up. That's not good faith negotiation. That's being a troll. If you want to negotiate, you counter with something that's at least in the ballpark of the seller's price unless the seller is so vastly overpriced you're trying to counter with something lower than the standard prices (and politely pointing out they might recheck poetrade for similar items to verify the price). If I was selling that Rat's Nest, I'd probably have let the Rat's Nest go at 8 chaos if the guy was polite and used complete sentences when pinging me. I might have let it go at 9 chaos if he was direct and not a jerk with his counter offer. Politeness goes a long way in negotiation. Ping me with an offer that is 80% lower than my asking price when I'm already the cheapest? I'm going to laugh at you and possibly block you if I'm feeling prickly that day. My Builds:

" You would probably do better by giving a price in these situations. Study after study show that people that provide the first price in negotiations end up closer to their number. " This might be true but TC still could have done a better job. Like you, and I said in my hypothetical, there is no reason to play games with an item like this. Give a price, let the person know if you are willing to negotiate and then go with a price you are happy with or ignore the other guy. Its not complicated and TC took someone low balling him personally which is worse than the actual low balling. |
