So we are ending up with the same thing that happened in the last thread. Bunch of people want it lowered/removed and other people coming in saying it's fine/raise it. How about we just stick with what Chris said, that they are happy with it, and agree to compromise.

" To be honest this is not a hot topic. You could remove 90% of the pages pages because they are only filled with blah blah blah from people that do not even play standard. The situation is as old as poe. Everytime someone in standart asks to remove the penalty hundreds of so called hardcore players scream NOOOOOOOOO. Original post TLDR: another player who wants to be able to die 50000000 times and still reach 100.
Without death penalty: Die 7 million times = level 100. Cast on Death build = level 100. Build with no life nodes = level 100. CI+EB = level 100. Congrats on your level 100... I guess? Death penalty is what makes 100 worth it. Whenever I saw a level 100 character sitting around in Sarn camp, I'd think "Wow, this guy is 100! He must have a really good build, he played his ass off, and didn't die. Respect!". Without death penalty I can look at that same guy and think "lol, another shit build that died his way to 100". Without death penalty, reaching 100 on softcore leagues will be a worthless achievement, and there won't be any point in doing it. 177

" the problem is that sc guys always try to counter back by saying using altf4/logout macro is very " hardcore" indeed. implying that every hardcore players rely on that all the time as if zerging and brute forcing your way with x deaths against bosses, running around suboptimal defense and using all your portals is a great achievement instead |

I think it's a nice incentive to make you not want to die once you go 80+.

As much as I am against reducing the penality (although a recovery mechanic would be "kinda" cool) It isn't necessary.
